Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Halo 5 is Fantastic!

Well, it's been Spartan SUPERsoldiers for almost one and a half decade now. So...

About the game:
Campaign actually always feels good thoguh gameplaywise i missed some wow effects. And i didn't like those talking missions. That was on normal though.
Just started my solo legendary walkthrough today.
Multiplayer really feels good so far.
Personnaly i still miss splitscreen, though i only used it occassionaly. So it's not a big loss for me.

New moves and capabilities are something i wanted for some time, so to me that's great.

About the story:
I don't like Locke. Rest of team osiris is way more intersting. And the basic storyline still feels a bit flat. But storytelling is again way better than anything Bungie ever did.

Halo 5 looks like another generic dudebro shooter with nice visuals to me,though i only watched a playtrough so i didnt experience the full thing.

There are so many mainstream arena shooters out there on consoles that's nauseating at this point. Specially ones with space marines, intergalactic story and unusual gameplay.

Also, they should stop making Indiana Jones spin off games as well... so generic.

Lol what other old school arena shooters are there.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

Shooters these days just give me mostly the seem feel, the story isnt deep and the characters arent really different.

Its like devs play it a bit too safe to atract to the mainstream crowd, the only one that had some difference to my oppinion is return to castle wolfenstein and alien isolation (not really a shooter)but thats not alot in all those years.

COD/halo/Titanfall/New gears of war trailer look samy to me.

So I'm almost done with the second campaign mission and if every gameplay mission is as good as these then holy shit! I have almost 2 hours of play time just to almost finish these two missions. And none of the deaths feel cheap like playing CoD on Veteran mode where respawning enemies can one shot you. These encounters have multiple ways to be tackled and require strategy. I skipped every campaign after Halo 2 but this makes me wanna buy the MCC and play through them.

What I really like is the design of the missions and the game world. It really feels like a sci-fi game and a battle against alien races. Compare it to something like Destiny, that first open mission on an alien world in Halo 5 was amazing. It looks and feels like an alien world. And the "grunt" type Forerunner enemies (I assume this is who they are, again, not up to speed on Halo lore) are most interesting than virtually anything in Destiny that isn't an end raid boss.

Then the second mission you're on a space ship and it actually looks and plays like a big battle on a space ship. And I don't really care about switching between Dudebro Spartan 1 and 2... seems like such a petty complaint. As long as the narrative makes it work. We'll see if it does.

As amazing as these first two missions are, I realize now that Fallout 4 is out in less than a week and there's no way I will finish on Legendary on time.

I agree, something bugs me about him to, I would much prefer Buck or Vale to be in charge of team Osiris. I would say my conclusion is that the ending, how abrupt it may be, is necessary to make the grand finale in Halo 6. Kind of how Halo 2 was the build-up for Halo 3. But 343i are far superior at story telling overall.

Not gonna talk to much about the ending. I still have to finish it on legendary, but yeah, it was a bit abrupt. Probably more than Halo 2.

Bungie scale storyline with 343i storytelling would be pretty much perfect for me.

I don't mean to offend anyone here, but I would like to read the opinion of someone who isn't known to already love everything XBox...

Cause even though I was hoping this would be from someone who isn't XBox centric, I knew when I clicked that it wasn't going to be so.

Nothing really wrong with enjoying the game, but it's also not surprising to see someone who's known for enjoying everything XBox praising the game. And it the same vein, it's hard for me to consider this kind of input on the game as having an ounce of impartiality... :/

Feels pretty much like halo 4. If you enjoyed it, you will enjoy this. I haven't tried multiplayer yet though so I can't tell you what warzone is like.

And what about people who hated Halo 4 but loved Halo 1-3?

Then I don't think you'll be convinced by the single player. But if I recall correctly halo 4 multiplayer had load outs, which 5 doesn't have. If thats what caused issues you might find the multiplayer far better.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm a Halo vet and I really want to give the MP a shot but 343 REALLY changed this franchise as far as SP goes. I was really hoping, before finding out all these details, that they'd change the SP and bring it back to more of it's roots but I guess that's just not what they're after. Seems like they're more focused on MP.
