Metal Gear Solid.

A stupid campy/gamey but not so gamey series about war with a twist: it's supposed to make you feel bad about war... sometimes. But that's like recommending a novel that has been going on for decades.

The Paper Mario games ( minus Sticker Star): Some of the most charming RPGs ever created.

Super Mario games (yes, even Sunshine): Easilythe best platforming series around.

Mario Kart games: One of the best local multiplayer games ever.

Metroid ( Minus Other M): Deserves to be played by anyone who likes interesting worlds in which you can get lost.

Zelda: One of the best adventure series around.

Final Fantasy: Even with its up and downs it's still one of the best JRPGS series around.

Skies of Arcadia: One of the charming and unique JRPGs ever created.

Resident Evil 4: The pinnacle of 3rd person shooters and horror games. Resi 1-3 are also worth playing it, but 4 is a must.
