No because it's doubtful if I'll ever buy one.

Honestly usually it wouldn't matter that much but for NX it's different: I think that NX should have phisical backwards compatibility since I know plenty of people that'll buy NX (including myself) for hypotetical games that'll come out later in it's lifetime (Metroid, F-Zero...) but that want also to try out games from Wii U they couldn't play since they didn't have the system...

NX is primarily the successor to the 3DS, it will just happen to be able to also function as a console because mobile chips have gotten massively more powerful over the last 3-4 years, it will be more powerful than the Wii U as a result.

So if there's backwards compatibility IMO it will be with the 3DS/DS.

I think Nintendo is done with disc media after this gen too.

You will be able to play some Wii U games on NX ... in the form of remasters/ports (DKC:TF, Pikmin 3, Xenoblade and probably a handful of other games I can see being ported). And you'll have to pay again for those games.

Which is the smarter business strategy anyway.

I still use my Wii system for Wii games. They look horrible on my TV through a HDMI cable anyway. It's a bit old plasma TV, but one of my friend has a modern LED tv, and Wii games on his Wii U also looks like trash compared to the output of the old Wii. Artifacts, no screen smoothing (done by TV but not through HDMI).

I also use my DSi XL for old DS games, almost same story. DS games are way too blurry on 3DS because of the not too big difference in screen resolution. If the next handheld has a higher pixel density like the Vita (yes I love that screen), then I'd love backwards compatibility. PSP and even PS1 games looks really, really good on that screen. Pixelated yes, blurry no. Blurry is even an option there for you poor souls who like the look of DS games on 3DS :P

But if it continues like DS -> 3DS and Wii -> Wii U, then I have no qualms about keeping the old systems. Well, was always going to do that anyway.

Backwards compatibility, not a selling point for me anymore.

Yep.

I wouldn´t mind because I keep all my consoles and games. I would really like if they start with a new format :)

Ive never played a Wii game on my Wii U, or GC game on my Wii even though I like the idea.

But ive played many GBA games on my DS, and DS games on my 3DS.

So I wouldnt really mind if the NX cant play Wii U games if it is a home console, but would like it if it can play 3DS games if it is a handheld.

I generally don't care about anything NX related. It's unlikely i will buy it.

Not at all. I still own my older systems so the appeal of BC is lost on me.

This^

Still waiting on that wiiu price drop.

If it means that the next console will be gimped to support BC, then no, I don't want it. I definitely appreciate having it; I still play Wii games on the Wii U, and I never owned a 3DS, but am playing Okamiden on my 3DS right now. However, I keep all of my consoles and games I love, and anyone who wants to play those games can go get the hardware and software themselves. I'm more concerned about Nintendo making a console that maximizes its full potential right now.

Just kill BC. Anything to free ourselves of the Wii brand
