Forums - Website Topics - VGChartz is a shadow of its former self (bear with me here)

In terms of sales debates, you're absolutely right. But, to be perfectly honest, the sales debates were never especially interesting to me. I rarely saw deep, insightful analyses of sales trends, market shifts, and pre-order patterns. Much more frequently I saw "game X is winning, lol" or "system Y is doomed, lmao." Sales figures on VGChartz are more often used as artillery in a never-ending console war, rather than an entree to a meaningful discussion about the video game market.

So, while I know some members here miss them desperately, I don't mind their absence. It's the community here that brings me back, not the numbers.

Yeah but sales were an incentive to come to the site, at least a few time a week to check... and read a few posts, and that what make a community. But in the current state of competition (clear positions), even updated it would not be that great, and that's perhaps the very reason why they put less and less effort on the site update.

Guys, I think it's time you accept the facts, ioi doesn't exist. The mods have been brainwashing you into believing there's a magical creator who updates sales numbers. The numbers were only ever "somewhat" accurate anyway, compared to the official numbers. If ioi was real, don't you think he would have come and updated the sales by now? Even if he was, all the numbers ever do is cause thread wars and bans, would such a powerful mod allow such a thing? If so, he has a sick sense of humor. I've lost many people to those sorts of threads.. T.T jk don't ban me o.o XD

That's a fair point. I would imagine many forum members found this site because of the numbers. I do hope the numbers are updated soon, to keep this site financially viable and to retain old members and attract prospective members.

On a personal level, though, I don't really miss them.

I reckon VGChartz are being paid by MS to not report or at least hold them back since the gap between both is getting bigger and PS4 is now selling in China and actually SELLING there. Other sites are being paid off too with some boasting Xone has beaten the Ps4 in April sales by hugh amounts (which vary from site to site and are given no indication as to what region/s) but MS has not released any numbers yet for sales through April and May. What d'yall reckon?

It's an interesting theory, but it's one which doesn't hold firm for VGC at least.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Exactly, I came here for the numbers myself, I was dead serious about the PS3 coming back... not this week, but next week, ok that will be next month, Christmas ! Now, I personally don't miss them either, in fact I didn't even notice it was not updated for such a long time. But it would be great to see a come back, and I mean any console, Wii U, XOne or PSVita, and numbers updated weekly. Back to business !
