Didn't really run into any issues with my consoles breaking until we got to the generations with discs (beyond the odd blowing in the cartridge trick here or there). NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, even Sega CD and Saturn all functioned and still function fairly ok today when the mood strikes me to break one out for old times sake. My Ps1 was close to breaking, but continues to work (even to this day) if I find the right angle to lean it up against the TV stand.

First console that did break beyond my ability to repair was my Ps2. Disc tray broke and I was unable to insert games into it.
My Original Xbox was next, it started basically ruining my game discs at a certain point and had to be scrapped.
Xbox 360 then Red Ringed a few times requiring sending it off.

I did not get a Ps3 until the slim and a couple price drops, so that console still works perfectly fine (and I still use it for the Blue Ray player some).

Ps4 is still alive and kicking, as well as my Wii U. All my other consoles are in a box collecting dust, but hadn't broken on me to this point.

All of my consoles still work fine. Though I had my NDS break after less than 1 month of use .

Send a Friend Request On PSN :P

Every console I have ever owned broke at some point. haha I put a lot of hours in my consoles regardless of how long I've had 'em. They typically last anywhere from 2 years to 6.

All of the consoles I ever owned.

NES
SNES
N64
Gamecube
Sega Saturn
PS1
PS2
PS3
Xbox

All of my consoles, except for my PS3 have died at some point. My PS3 is the first console I've owned to last without replacement until I get the successor console.

With that said, my sega genesis was my first console I ever owned, and it was the first console to die, however, I've had replacements since then. My oldest sega genesis is still in use from 1998, and I own three of them currently, but a total of 6 over the course of my life.

Out of my consoles that did break, the only ones to never be replaced were my sega saturn, and PSP.

360 was my shortest-lived console. It died a week after its 1-year warranty was up from the E74. Microsoft wasn't covering it with the three-year-warranty at the time.

First console I ever had crap out on me was my PS1, which lasted 3 years. My PS2s lasted 3 years apiece. My PS3 60GB fatty died after 4 years but Sony replaced it with a refurbished 60-gigger which still works beautifully. :)

I have never had a Nintendo console crap out on me, and I've got Nintendo consoles older than most of the people who post here. They still work perfectly.

Dont ask for how long they survived because I dunno

PLAYSTATION 1 (PS1 not PSOne model)
The first ever that died was the PS1 it worked but I had to put it upside down otherwhiise it would not spin or read the disks. Sold it and bought a PS2 in 2001 or so but rebought a PS1 in 2015 to have a complete sony collection PS1 PS2 PS3 PS4)

GameBoyColor
It works the only exception is the speaker which for whatever reason sounds silent and has distorted sound. (the distorted sound is loud tho)

PLAYSTATION 2
The Fat PS2 that gave me a disk read error one day for no reason and no amount of cleaning or whatever could fix that (It was replaced with a PS2 slim that now works for 10 years)

PLAYSTATION 3
Was updating the firmware to play GTA5 and ended up in an update loop. (update until 26 or so % ERROR please restart and try again fail update restart fail update restart etc.... It bricked itself thanks to shitty updates that offer nothing of value just "stability" so I cant play pirated games.....THANK YOU IDIOTS.)
Called sony they tried to help me with the recovery mode, I also replaced the harddrive and did several attempts to fix it but after 3 days I gave up and had to buy a new console.

NES or SMS, they both had problems with them that prevented me from playing. I can't say they were necessarily dead though, I also am not sure which went first since both occurred after I stopped playing them regularly.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

None of my consoles have died.... but then i only started buying consoles late..

PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, XB360, Wii (sold)... Just lucky i guess :)

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

PS2 - Maybe 5 years?
SNES - Maybe 16 years? (due mostly to mistreatment)

My dead console history goes like this:

PS2 - It didn't die per se but it couldn't read disks anymore so yeah... (about 5 years old)
Wii - Died while I was playing Epic Mickey (I was very near the end of the game), the console wouldn't boot at all. Sent it to Nintendo who replaced it but I lost all my save files. (about 6 years old)
PS3 - While my husband was playing God of War 2 on the HD collection. The console wouldn't boot, only beep twice and instantly close. I had unscrew the whole thing to get the game disk inside. (about 6 years old)
