I have had only a few consoles and fortunately none of them broke. I have a DS, 2 PSPs, Vita, PS3 and PS4.

None's broken on me so far. Only time I've replaced a console was for a bigger hard drive.

I'll start with the broken ones
PS2 - I literally had 7 of these brake. They weren't all new consoles obviously, but still pretty annoying and was the reason I went to Xbox in the first place.
Xbox 360 - Not as bad as PS2. Only on my 4th 360. My 3rd one actually still works, but wanted to upgrade to the elite console
PS3 - Only on my 2nd PS3. Although I bought my first one in 2011 so I haven't had long to go through them yet. My first one was a refurbished/preowned one as well (I really wanted the model that was BC with PS2 games)

Consoles that have never broke:
Sega Megadrive - Was my Dad's rather than mine, but never an issue with it. Think it still works now.
PS1 - Had 2 PS1s. The original model and the mini portable one. Both of them still work to this day.
Gameboy - Have an original and a colour, both still work.
Xbox - Never had a single problem with my Xbox. Glad about that after how many PS2s I went through
Wii - Like PS3 I got a Wii fairly late in to the gen, but even so never an issue with it and it still works.
DS - I have 2 DSs and both still work.
PSP - Another that I got late in to the gen, still works though.
3DS - No issues with it ever.
Vita - Likewise, no issues.
Wii U - Had it just over a year before selling it but no issues.
PS4 - Had it since launch. Got the disc eject error before but I think I've solved that and no issues other than that.
Xbox One - Had for just over a year, no issues.

Wow, that's a lot of PS2's!  I'm actually surprised by the number of broken PS2's I've seen others mention as well.  I must have gotten lucky with mine.  The sound craps out on it sometimes, but that's just a loose connection, because when I fiddle with the wire it goes back to normal.

None of my console broke yet, but then again my oldest console is a GameCube.
So the list would be:
GameCube 2003- (12 years)
PlayStation 2 2007- (8 years)
Wii 2008- (7 years)
Xbox 360 2010- (5 years)
Xbox One 2014 (7 months)

Add me on Xbox: DWTKarma

The only console i've had that have died on me, was the 360. RROD twice and the third just stopped working completely. I've sold all of my retro stuff from my childhood and teens in 2009 when i enlisted to the navy cause i needed extra cash as an insurance

Xbox 360 was the first hardware failure I've ever had. (packed in after 1 week), subsequently got through another 3 RRODs up to 2008 before giving up on the platform.
PS3 was then the second. (lasted 4 years original 60gb PS2 backwards compatible model, gutted!)

Touch wood that's all I'll ever encounter.

7th gen not only one of the most disappointing from a software creativity perspective, but also for the worst built video game hardware known to man.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I have a Sega Genesis, an N64, a GameCube, a Wii, an OG GameBoy, a GameBoy Color, a GameBoy Advance, a GBA SP, and an OG 3DS.

They are all still fully functional. Some have some wear and tear (the GBA battery cover is held on with duct tape), but they still work just fine.

I am going to have to vote Atari, or NES. I was probably 6 to 7 when I actually had them and I do not remember their fate.

I have had two PS3s brake, and have owned 3 over all. One PS2 was stolen by some degenerates. My original 360 works, but is clearly near the end of its time.

None of my consoles or HHs have failed, but I can assure you some have been broken, for example, years ago my sister pulled the top screen off of my DS Lite -_-

My original Xbox broke because of overheating, but it was 100% my fault I admit.

The audio of all my dreamcast games suddenly became glitchy, and games were still working, strange hardware failure for a console I think.

My N64 didn't even break even after one whole night under heavy rain. This console is a tank!
