Looks like the Wii U is almost at the end of it's life. :(

You know, a handheld does exist too. Just saying.

Well the OS will be "unified" (not shared games) and he is a software engineer so it makes sense since the handheld nx will be announced next year and the console should have the same OS

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

From what Nintendo have been saying I'd expect to see a handheld and home console that share the same hardware architecture and api so game developers can code for one and and have it work on both.

What I forgot to say is that people who planned to buy a Wii U or a 3DS in the near future should hold off now, because the system that you were about to buy will get abandoned soon.

This might anger current Wii U owners. Longevity is expected from console makers. I wont be surprised if PS3 and Xbox 360 are still supported by the time NX launches.

Yes it does-  I bought a Wii u at launch for my sons B day (will nevr buy a console at launch again and will never buy a Nintendo console until most of the better games are released aready if there are enough at that point)

My biggest problem w the Wii U (and there are several) are that Nintendo never really gave it a chance-  It was as if they expected it to take off 1st THEN they would support it-  but dince it did not take off they never fully committed to it-  and it shows-    I still think they could have done ALOT with asymetrical gameplay,  they could have a more diverse lineup of games and worked on 3rd party support when they could not provide games for it themselves-

I just never felt like they gave their best effort or anything close -  Now they are talking about anothe console before tthey have done this one justice -

IMO they will have to have an amzing lineup ON LAUNCH DAY to get many people to "buy in" early for their next console-    regardless, ill be waiting and watching for a long time befoere i consider another Nintendo console-

Looks like the Wii U is about to be replaced. Maybe as soon as spring 2016.

you're aware of how long a development of a console generally takes right? they always start this early for next gen

"ConsoleS"
Yep.

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

nx wont be launched til christmas 2016 the earliest, they'll announce what it is at e3 2016 . so we're looking at spring 2017, xmas 2016. i dont think it matters because they refuse to acknowledge an expanding user base and they need 3rd party support. if its a hybrid system, will ultimately fail bc handheld games and console games r completely different.

Let's say the next home console releases soon. Will Nintendo make an ultimate/deluxe version of Smash Bros Wii U and Mario Kart 8 launch titles for Wii U's successor? If they do, I hope they give Wii U owners that have the original game(s) a generous discount.

I'm also wondering if I should buy any future first party exclusive Wii U game if they could easily make a superior port as a launch title for their next home console.
