Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo engineer lists next-gen, unannounced consoles on LinkedIn profile

Let's say the next home console releases soon. Will Nintendo make an ultimate/deluxe version of Smash Bros Wii U and Mario Kart 8 as their launch title to increase the profits of those two titles? If they do, I hope they give Wii U owners that have the original game a generous discount.

I'm also wondering if I should buy any future first party exclusive Wii U game if they could easily make a superior port as a launch title for their next home console.

1st of they aren't sony or microsoft so they wont have mk8 or SSBU difinitive versions. I'm going to go and assume you're being 100% sarcastic.

What I forgot to say is that people who planned to buy a Wii U or a 3DS in the near future should hold off now, because the system that you were about to buy will get abandoned soon.

"Early as spring 2016" no.... just stop.

Still not expecting any news relating to this till next year.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I'm not. Wii U hasn't even reach 10 million sales and its about to face its 3rd summer. I know as a consumer I should be more worried if I'm getting the games I want (which I am!), but with such low sales, one may wonder that, if Nintendo decides to release their next home console soon, they may want to give it as much launch titles as possible. Seeing how Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros. Wii U sales have settled into extremely low week to week sales in such a short time and the Wii U may never sale more than 3.5 million a year world wide, Nintendo may try to release these as launch titles for the next home console because only a few people have these titles.

Yes Nintendo doesn't usually make deluxe version of their games, but they really screwed up this generation home console wise which is a shame because the Wii U isn't that bad of a console.

Oh, and as long as Nintendo give Wii U owners generous discounts to these deluxe titles and provide a really good launch for Wii U's successor, this could be an okay move.

Looks like the Wii U is about to be replaced. Maybe as soon as spring 2016.

Looks like we might have more information on the console that's replacing the Wii U - as early as Spring 2016.

Well, it is unrelated to the point of release, the info isn't some official one, it slipped through. Anyways, i expect new hardware from Nintendo next, the successor to 3DS is due early 2017.

You're absolutely right, it is unrelated to the point of release, and maybe that point would hold water if it existed in a vacuum, but it doesn't. It exists as the umteenth piece of evidence implying the Wii U/3DS's early demise in favor of a unified platform since January of last year. And the fact that he isn't didn't list the 3DS implies that what he's working on is also console tech as opposed to just handheld tech. All signs point to 2016.

Well the OS will be "unified" (not shared games) and he is a software engineer so it makes sense since the handheld nx will be announced next year and the console should have the same OS

It will share games. That's not even debatable. Iwata has literally confirmed that. It's whe whole reason the OS will be unified in the first place. They're sharing a library to avoid software droughts. He already said that, and literally gave examples so people wouldn't get it confused.

of course its 'consoles'. Iwata said that they were unifying their stuff a while ago. It makes sense that he would say 'consoles'. I would have been shocked if it was only one announcement.

Can I see some source if you don't mind?
