Yes, but a side-by-side comparison of sales figures just makes it look...bad. I'm commenting on the unfortunate reality of it only being on WiiU.

...How? Bayo 2 is outpacing the original, even when you combine the PS3 and 360 versions. And that's without considering that the original is said to be very overtracked to begin with.

I'm talking about a comparison to multiplatform games that have outsold Bayo2, but definitely would not have if Bayo2 was multiplatform. Sometimes, people just look at total sales figures, point, and say, "Winner!" Given install base ratios of the 3 consoles, we know that is an awfully misleading (and often agenda-driven) strategy.

I would say that COD and GTA aim at a far wider demograph than just the prepubescant crowd. It's not going to be incredibly embarassing to buy those games like it is to buy a game like Bayonetta.

Of couse they AIM at a wider demographics; its sales would not be possible if it didn't. But the prepubscent crowd is the primary buyer; the kids who still think it's "cool" to murder civilians, take drugs, and rob banks.

GTA and COD don't aim for a wider demographic. The game is purely adult. Kids just want what they shouldn't be playing pending the adults allowing it or the kids finding alternative sources to play the game. Its as simple as that. They all aim at the same consumer base which is adults; however, mature games are still segmented by popularity of genre. Bayonetta is the least of the three, but GTA is a another beast in itself for the TPS genre.

But kids are a huge segment of the end user base. GTA is everything the average Western 12-year-old male thinks is cool.

You clearly don't have any knowledge about the demographics of GTA games.

No, a lot of kids and teenagers like the game. Doesn't matter if GTA games are aimed to adults, that doesn't stop minor age people to get them.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Yes, what's scarier is Street Fighter?! was in the same boat, and that's created deja vu all over again.

Or Rise of the Tomb Raider, though I think Street Fighter is probably a far bigger coup than either Bayonetta 2 or RotTR.

I think that with increased competition and rising development costs, we're going to see a lot more of these kinds of exclusives.

You didn't get my post. Also I'd like you to point me to where the Wii U is "taking names in profits".

Well.. Nintendo already was back into the profits and then they had an amazing christmas with the wiiu. Games sales way up and amiibo sales were very strong as well. This was during a time period where Microsoft was basically paying consumers to get an xbox one.  There was what a 50 dollar price difference between the wiiu and xbox one despite much more expensive hardware.

Well MS and Nintendo aren't the only 2 big players in the industry are they? There's a third one that should've made some pretty damn decent profit as well (on gaming).

But yeah Amiibo should've made them a pretty penny this holiday season, let's see how long that continues.

Typical gamers who doesn't want to try something new.

Still stuck on the same genre. That's why this game has lower sales.

Now, it's not us (Or them) to blame really. It's their choice if they want to buy or not. Or it could be that by looking at the game, it's not their taste :)

let's pin it all on Nintendo for it's lacklusture sales even though it wouldn't have happened if not for them.

Bayo 1 didn't do that well at all even on both the 360 and PS3, especially with the PS3 being the worst port, the game itself is niche and that's all there is to it, all of Platinum's games have sold poorly when you compare them to most big hitting popular games let alone sales in general and yet they keep on trucking.

How do you read that I'm pinning it on Nintendo?

You actually confirm my statement in your second paragraph, in which you are absolutely correct on everything. Bayonetta is a niche title that struggled to sell as a multiplat. To expect it will all of a sudden succeed as an exclusive was silly.

It would have struggled had it released on all 3 consoles simultaneously, exclusivity doomed it from the start.

Truth. They just don't get it. They don't learn from history. If you don't know how the problem started, your chances are fixing it are slim.

There's not really any proof that Bayo 2 would have sold more than typical mutliplatform games if it was multiplatform. It's such a niche game that targets a specific audience; there's no way it would outsell games like Destiny or Watch_Dogs, or even games like Wolfenstein and The Evil Within.

Right now, the market is clammoring for FPS/TPS games, not sexy hack & slash witch games, and that's just the sad truth. The game has its following, and that helps it survive on its own, but the general public doesn't gravitate towards it.

And which genre is it that they are stuck? There are many popular genres, not only one.

That really depends.

For example, if he loves FPS, then he sticks to FPS. He loves MOBA, he is stuck with MOBA.

Or he could be stuck with both.

That's just an example. There are tons of genres that you could be stuck with and couldn't find a way to enjoy others.
