Forums - Sales Discussion - Will the gap in sales between PS4 and X1 be greater or smaller in 2015?

It's a tough call because we don't know if MS will bring the price of the X1 back up to $399 or not. We might see the AC bundle priced at $399 and the standalone console at $349. However, even then, I don't think that will help that much. The PS4 has a lot more exclusives in 2015 and the lineup will likely be bolstered with more unannounced games. And of course, Sony still has the $100 pricecut in its back pocket while MS has already made several soft pricecuts.

As for China, the PS4 will definitely do better than the X1 over there. However, I don't think it will contribute that much to 2015 sales. It's a boost nonetheless.

Xbox One seems to have a long drought of significant exclusives in 2015, so for now I'd say the gap will increase in PS4's favor. MS will put all their eggs in the holiday basket again.

My 8th gen collection

Japan could make the PS4 lead a bit bigger yeah.

EDIT: On the other hand the next 1st half can't be as atrocious for X1 as this year.

end of 2015 totals

PS4 40M+, 20M+ for 2015 only
XB1 25M,13M for 2015 only

Absolute numbers yes. Relative maybe not so much.

The gap will definitely increase. PS4 will have a much better year thanks to all of the exclusives, especially in Japan while XB1 sales will fall off a cliff with the price going back to $399 and no exclusives for a long time. That being said, if the price doesn't go back up to $399 then it'll make this a lot harder to call

That simply won't happen. XBox has a stellar line up next year and don't forget that most system sellers are 3rd party not 1st party. The Order 1886 is unlikey to be a massive deal and Bloodborne has a very specific audience who are probably leaning sony anyway.

I'd say the gap will remain the same or increase slightly. The ground XB1 made in US isn't gonna vanish vanish overnight. A potential gap  increase will be from PS4 sales shooting through the roof in EU and finally finding its feat in Japan. In america I see Xbox dropping to levels slightly below PS4 which is far better then what we saw throughout the majority of this year.

JoeAncelotti Quantum Break, Tomb Raider (Timed) and Crackdown

crackdown wont do much imo,the last one barely got to a mil ltd, quantum might break slightly over a mil like alan wake ltd,not big game changers....tomb raider(wich usually sells more on ps) might break 2 mil,its gonna get trounced by uncharted in sales, sony ppl are not trading in their playstation just for tr.....

Expect it to be bigger.

Why not?  What do they have to fight the onslaught of PS4 exclusives?

How many threads like this do we need?

Larger of course.
