Forums - Movies & TV - What do you think of Idris Elba as James Bond?

Idris Elba potential next Bond according to Sony Pictures leak.

TBH I dont like him at all. This has nothing to do with racism or anything like that. I also dont like Daniel Craig at all (as Bond) and I would never accept a white Blade. Or a chinese Superman.

To me bond is a middle aged "white" male with dark hair. He is an oldschool-playboy with a shitload of class.

To me Daniel Craig is a "look at me I am cool"guy and is JamesBlonde and not JamesBond.
In my opinion he has no class at all. He is simply not the person to "silence" (no not with guns!) a whole room and make people stare at him by just entering. (well maybe his ears can)
He looks to goofy imo.

Idris has the right age might be cool and might have class but he does not fit the role of James Bond.

This guy would be a James Bond imo.

What do you think?

Never was a huge Bond fan so I could care less who they get for the role. Just give me badass action scenes and I'm good.

The most important thing is that Bond is British! Anything else would be like a none-british Doctor Who. I also kinda feel like a none-white Bond would require quite extensive re-writing from the current Bond we all know and love.

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I like Idris, but not sure if he fits as Bond.

It seems there is a ''blackification'' still going on. Blackification, not diversification. The Human Torch, The Kingpin, Electro, Captain America(comic book), Nick Fury, Perry White from Superman, now Bond too.....That's off the top of my head. Sometimes, it's so stupid, it boggles the mind that it was done. Like with The Human Torch. Most times, it' whatever. But why not get some Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Latino,....Eskimo actors. Why always African American. P.S. My question mark is currently not working, hence it's absence at the end of my question.

He should also be British surely? So that rules out George Clooney.

Gary Oldman is the perfect candidate but he would never be considered for the role unfortunately.

Considering that Daniel Craig has 2 more movies contracted to him, we will be looking at the next Bond hitting cinemas in around 6 Years time. When you consider that Elba right now is 42 and will be pushing 50 by the time he could realistically take hold of the character, he will be too old.

I would go for Tom Hardy or Henry Cavill from the current big elite. Cavill was actually considered for Casino Royale.

Pierce Brosnan is Irish.
and he was a great Bond (might not be the best actor of the world) But he is essentially Bond.
For me having an actor that feels like Bond is more important than Bond being played by a British person. I mean as long as the character feels British in the movies its not a big deal to me.
(the fictional character James Bond was born in Berlin, Germany btw. so even Bond is not really British)

I think he would be perfect for it right now.

That said, in 6-10 Years time we will be looking at a whole new set of actors who could potentially take hold of the character.
