i love daniel and will be sad to see him leave the role. i don't know the guy in the OP so i have no real opinion. i don't feel like bond has to be white however. black seems just fine so long as he is british. british is much more central to the bond character than white, imo.

I don't like the idea and I'm a huge fan of the guy. I don't like black Human Torch either. Black Annie and black Karate Kid I don't mind. But it's no different than white Cleopatra, white Moses, and White Ghengis Khan. And even white Jesus. But I understand that if those historically famous people are ever cast as non-white the film is a sure-fire box office bomb. Heck, remember the remarks when people realized that Rue is Hunger Games is black? Some of the worst things I've ever heard said about a child.

But it's a Hollywood thing to be honest because most of us blacks think it's ridiculous. But I can tell you that even though many of us disagree with the Exodus cast we still went to see the film. And Moses is (supposedly) a real person. No big deal.

The reason why most black characters aren't cast white is because their "blackness" is usually a part of their character. Luke Cage is from the hood, Blade grew up in a rough black neighborhood, etc. Not to mention the black characters are usually lesser known than their white counterparts.

He is a novel concept. If you want a black spy agent, make a new movie with one. It seems companies are afraid to create a new IP with a black lead so they take an already popular franchise and slap a black character in there.

And doing so, as it often happens with that stupid and hypocritical political correctness, they manage to insult the intelligenge of both black people and the public in general, while only pleasing a minority of lefties that are always so busy showing their self-proclaimed moral and intellectual superiority that they don't realise they are patronising and insulting also those minorities or underprivileged groups they think they are defending.

I don't know why Sony doesn't branch off the world of James Bond with another MI6 agent. Viewers have already seen other 00 characters, even though they typically die quickly to illustrate how "special" Bond is.

Sony could potentially release an MI6 film every year or at minimum every 2 years consistently.

Wouldn't be a stretch of writing to introduce another 00 agent within a Bond film who, surprise of surprises, doesn't die and instead proves to be one more agent who is just as bullet proof and as charmed as Bond.

Idris Elba is as fine an actor as any casting director could place in the role of Bond, but it's impossible not to ignore the political push behind such a decision which would mar the casting.
