I dont know about 'most overated' but Sonic in the time it originated was good as at the time the limitations of the consoles the game fit REALLY well. But I dont see much room for evolution for the series that doesnt at the same time rip the heart out of the concept, outside of budjet and indie games that are played main for nostalgia.

Consoles have come a long way since Sonic thrived and are capable of doing alot more than what Sonic could in its prime, leaving the hedgehog eating their dust :p

Hm, the only people I see overrating Sonic today are the die hard fans, so you really can't say he is overrated in general.

I think a lot of things behind the original Sonic trilogy were great, but it was never as mechanically sound as Mario. Most overrated ever though? Not even close.
