Thats now, 3DS will be doing 35k+ weekly avg soon, possibly over 45k, pretty damn good for a 15mil+ HH in today's market

3ds has sold 15,000,000 already in japan ...at the moment there is no software at the moment so sells will go down like every other device (wii u,playstation 4 ,etc) why all these threads with 3ds or wii u doom ) if anyone needs a new console it's the next playstation portable not nintendo .....3ds 15,000,000> ps vita 1,200,000 in japan thru 2013..... 3ds 43,000,000 > vita 8,000,000 ....Stop with the 3ds doom ...........

Well Vita hasn't been doing as badly as it once was, but even still...nothing is looking pretty over in japan right now.

Also, I will say that the 3DS is making money, especially with software...releasing new consoles usually results in losses for at least a year or two. Why would Nintendo ditch their moneymaker in favor or losing money when they don't have a successful home console to fall back on? Nintendo will hold out with the 3DS as long as possible.

The thing I took from the media create numbers is that everything is doing badly in Japan and yet 3DS still manages to get the #2 spot.

Yeah there are justifications for why the 3DS isn't doing as well, but it doesn't change the fact that it's still bad comparatively. It's in a decline and it isn't close to how well the DS did. Sometimes good isn't good enough.
