You have to forget all you know about the superman you belive in, The man of steel is different alot different ...

Superman Was built on the valor he was raise in, And In Man of steel these valor was changed or even absent.

This education was kind of altered.

Clark: What I was suposed to do let them die ?

Father : Maybe ...

this show how far is value was from what we knew... its different. Fear took a greater place in every step ...

Superman destroys Metropolis all the time. Heck, there was one time where he was fighting some random villain called Black Rock or something (in the comics) and he did so much collateral damage that people were afraid of him. He's also taken over the world and stuff, too--the REAL Superman, not some alternate Superman. Alternate Superman has done things like kill the president (Who was Lex Luthor).

Anyhoo, Man of Steal Superman behaved like many versions of Superman. People need to get over it. I loved the Christopher Reeve movies but they are no more the definitive version of Supeman than the Adam West Batman being the definitive version of that character.

MoS didn't suck just because Superman was out of character.

MoS was actually a good REBOOT for Superman....it set the stage for them to do more with it. I personally liked how Lois found out who he was right away, that gets that out of the way for another movie. I like how they forced Superman into a corner and gave him no choice but to fight. The script was a good set up/start for things to come.

I am a Superman fan and thought the movie was good. People are upset because it is not the Superman they wanted but it is BY FAR the best Superman movie to date....in my opinion.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

Dude, people aren't happy with the movie because it was bad. Besides the fact that that character had nothing to do with Superman, there were pacing issues and plot issues. Why was Lois Lane on the spaceship? Why was the Jor-El ghost omniscient? How did the other Kryptonians become so strong so quickly when it took Clark years of being exposed to the yellow sun? Why was Zod trying to turn Earth into Krypton? And why the hell were they constantly going back to the Daily Planet staff during the climax?

Let's clear one thing up, I don't like Superman. I'm a comic reader and I think he is underhanded, deceitful and one character more likely to 'lose it and turn' in the DCU than any other. He's good morals as Superman are outwards morals only (my view).

However, MoS was an enjoyable film. The idea he would destroy so many things in the city actually didn't throw me that much, I mean the machine they used destroyed far more and most people would have long since left by then. He can't take the fight away from the city as Zod wouldn't leave like that, unless Superman is clever enough (which he is now).

Difference between the cartoon and this film is that the cartoon always feels localised, their fight happen in a small area of the city, while in MoS it felt like in 2 seconds they'd crossed most of the city and destroyed another building. Scale of it all.

Hmm, pie.

I didn't like it that much, you have to look past  somethings and just enjoy it for the action film it is. Lois Lane was on the ship as collateral. Jor-El on the ship was equivilent to advanced AI which had access to the ships systems, including security cameras (question should be where he disappeared to after Superman left the ship).

Yeah the other bits though, no idea. Add, why did the teraforming machine know Superman was attacking it and know it was under threat.... heck why did it even have defence mechanisms?

No movie is perfect but some should just be enjoyed.

Hmm, pie.

One thing people also don't seem to notice: See The Incredibles, X-Men, Watchmen, Civil War, Infinite Crisis, The Dark Knight Returns, etc? Many writers are doing this thing where the public just doesn't trust superheroes. They are more harm than good. In the comics, Superman has dealt with this many times. In the Justice League cartoon, they've hinted at this. When confronted with the possibility of godlike beings walking amongst us, we turn on them. I think that this is where they are going to take Superman in the movies and I think it's about time.

I'm not a huge superman fan, but I really liked this movie. The action was fantastic, and Henry Cavil was a great superman. I feel like people are being really nitpicky. I'm glad snyder is spearheading the DC universe.
