Forums - Movies & TV - Superman would never be as reckless as in MoS?

It is blue.

A very, very, very dark blue. Grayish dark blue maybe?

This would have been better:

A bit amateurish but better than the MoS costume:

I never really liked superman because I thought he was overpowered and his weaknesses were unimaginative.

But I did like MoS because he faced formidable opponents where overpoweredness was toned down and weaknesses were more apparent.

this is what makes Spiderman a better superhero design because he's not overpowered which leaves you with more creative opponents.

MoS can't take the fight where he wants. It's based on what the villian is doing. The villians brought their gear to turn metropolis into Krypton so the fight had to be there and hence the collateral damage.

I loved the movie and so did my fiance'

Like how he saved those people on that oil rig or how he saved those kids on the bus?  Or, like the guy before said, how he stopped in the middle of the fight and saved those guys in the crashing helicopter?  Or Lois when she was falling?

He wasn't superman yet in your first two examples, and besides I'm talking about in the midst of the huge city wide destruction. That is when I wanted to see him save people to offset the incredible amount of carnage that he was partaking in. Already explained why the crashing helicopter is not a good example. And saving lois lane is once again not what I'm talking about. He needed to be shown saving regular civilians (extras) during all this mass destruction.

For example... in a much better choreographed fight scene from spiderman 2, spiderman is frequently breaking off from the fight to save random civilians that Doc Ock is putting in danger. This adds a greater level of suspense and nice action beats to the fight that the superman zod punchfest was lacking.

You're just making excuses now, Superman saves plenty of people in this movie. The first examples don't count because he wasn't wearing the suit? Seriously?

The examples in while wearing suit don't count because he saved people by physically averting the bad guys? Damn you Superman for saving a jet pilot by catching the Kryptonian before he mashed it to pieces. Damn you for hitting Faora to save that colonel instead of just standing in front of him like a meatshield and taking the knife, or plucking him out of there so you can be exposed to a back attack. And what about that guy during the smallvile battle who was falling to his death and Superman caught him, stopped to ask if he was OK, and then quickly moved him out of harms way?

I mean come on.

Let us all agree to disagree. At the end of the day, MoS appeals to the Transformers crowd. Who are we to berate them for their movie tastes?

Not really true. I didn't much care for the Transformer movies, but I loved MoS

Ok I'm think this fits the bill, pretty much.

Supermans recklessness is not really the issue. The movie is just too excessive with the damage that is done to metropolis. Its just disaster porn at its worst.

I'm completely fine with Superman punching people into buildings and doing millions in property damage, but usually even in the cartoons, you don't get the sense that much collateral damage is being done. Even in Avengers, a couple buildings got smashed up, but you could walk away from that movie believing that the bodycount was relatively low. In MoS, there is noway that 1000's of people didn't die. Thats just depressing.

One thing that could have remedied this is if we would have seen atleast a couple scenes of superman actually... you know... being a superhero. Save a couple people from falling debris, rescue some people from falling off a building... etc. We never got that, all superman did was punch people in the face.

Enjoy!

Yes I've seen that clip. It proves my point.
The property damage in that clip absolutely PALES in comparison to MoS. They knocked down one measily building there. MoS damn near destroys the entire city.
Again, I never said I had a problem with superman doing property damage. Pretty much all superpowered heros do that. I just think the amount of property damage and innocent lives being destroyed in MoS was WAAAAAY over the top. It got downright obnoxious after a while, to the point that I was numb to it. Its never good when an entire city block being leveled feels boring.

Only one building? Seriously? Math may not be your thing....

Every superhero has to be dark now, its a rule. Bright colors aren't allowed.

The entire movie has washed out colors.... In Zack Snyders mind washed out colors = realistic.

Okay 2 buildings go down (The rest just get banged up).

Even if 10 buildings went down it would still be nothing compared to MoS. That fight scene was an exercise in restraint when put next to MoS.
