So what should Nintendo have done with the Wii U according to that "Wii Crowd."  You seem to imply that Nintendo is seeking out a hardcore crowd, but with a gimmicky (although I LOVE the tablet controller) under powered controller, no real third party support, and no "core" first party games shown yet, I don't think that's the case.  They even lead with a 2D Mario.

I'm not trying to be snarky, just curious what your opinion is.

They should have made a better Wii; and if they didn't have any good ideas for a new console (as is evident), they should have stuck with the Wii for a while longer. It's not like the Wii wasn't able to run NSMBU and Pikmin 3. If even Ubisoft manages to put out a 5m+ selling game in late 2012, then you can be sure that there was a lot of life left in the Wii.

Agreed.

I'm not a Nintendo fan so much as a fan of what Wii represented - fun, accessible gameplay for everyone.   I've zero interest in WiiU.  My son wouldn't play it, he'd rather play 360, my wife would never touch that gamepad.  A wiimote and Just Dance - that she will, but we have a Wii for that already.

Yeah, I think the Super Wii route was the way to go.... but I have fallen in love with that controller.  I love the off screen play and it's uses as a media device, and I have had a blast with Nintendoland when people come over.  Still, it's not as cleetly accessible as the Wii, and it might have been the wrong direction for the company.

Yeah, a Super Wii with much refine motion (with touch screen/surface) and modern internet but still be a bigger tech jump.  Of course that would have been possible without the cost of the gamepad. OR the gamepad should be a full out Android tablet you can take anywhere and play your Nintendo games and play Android games on TV plus do just about anything else you could want as well.   That would have sold.

What's having a negative influence on the poll is that many of the people who liked the Wii aren't visiting this site anymore, because Nintendo changed direction with the 3DS and Wii U. If you aren't playing much, if any, new video games anymore, then there isn't much of a point to talk about them anymore.

I think you have a point here. I also think the WiiU would do much better, if at least one SKU (probably the Basic) would contain a Wiimote and a Nunchuk. I wasn't expecting that WiiU contains no of these things. That was the reason I bought no fourth controller in the last year, because I expected the WiiU would have one.

bets: [GTA6]

I loved that console and think that it was killed too soon so for me the answer would be a no.

No F-Zero, Pilotwings, Waverace, Starfox = fail
Super Mario Galaxy 1+2, NSMBW, Skyward Sword, DKCR = Success

Anyone who thinks Nintendo failed their fans with Wii is not a Nintendo fan.

We got two Mario Galaxies which >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mario Sunshine
Mario Kart Wii > Double Dash
Xenoblade + Last Story > Baten Kaitos + FFCC
Brawl...... well OK melee is still better, but it can be played on the Wii.
SS + TP = WW + TP (Aonuma Zeldas are all the same)
NSMBWii >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> No 2D Mario at all.
DKCR > DKC bonga bonga or whatever it was called
Kirby Epic Yarn + Kirby Return to Dreamland >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> those Kirby racers nobody asked for
Metroid Prime > Metroid Prime 3 > Metroid Prime 2 (Nintendo performed solidly when it comes to the relevant Metroid games. Note that I'm not forgetting anything here, nothing at all.)
We even got a Fire Emblem on Wii (If I remember correctly)

IMO Nintendo did a better job with Wii than Gamecube, much better.

I LOVE ICELAND!

You hit the nail on the coffin , buddy . This post is epic fail as a worthless discussion topic .
