So what should Nintendo have done with the Wii U according to that "Wii Crowd." You seem to imply that Nintendo is seeking out a hardcore crowd, but with a gimmicky (although I LOVE the tablet controller) under powered controller, no real third party support, and no "core" first party games shown yet, I don't think that's the case. They even lead with a 2D Mario.
I'm not trying to be snarky, just curious what your opinion is.

They should have made a better Wii; and if they didn't have any good ideas for a new console (as is evident), they should have stuck with the Wii for a while longer. It's not like the Wii wasn't able to run NSMBU and Pikmin 3. If even Ubisoft manages to put out a 5m+ selling game in late 2012, then you can be sure that there was a lot of life left in the Wii.

Agreed.
I'm not a Nintendo fan so much as a fan of what Wii represented - fun, accessible gameplay for everyone. I've zero interest in WiiU. My son wouldn't play it, he'd rather play 360, my wife would never touch that gamepad. A wiimote and Just Dance - that she will, but we have a Wii for that already.

Yeah, I think the Super Wii route was the way to go.... but I have fallen in love with that controller. I love the off screen play and it's uses as a media device, and I have had a blast with Nintendoland when people come over. Still, it's not as cleetly accessible as the Wii, and it might have been the wrong direction for the company.
