Because PSV vs. 3DS is no longer a competition? Sales between Wii and PSV are within the same range, or at least thats what people thought, comparing them is way more interesting. Same for 3DS and PS3.

indeed, sales are sales. This whole sites reason for living is to compare them and yeah to compare the 2 current gen handhelds is fairly pointless. Be like going in every wii-u sales thread and claiming them to be pointless to compare it to anything when it is the only console out of it's generation.
Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive
If sales do not pick up next year, then the handheld is dead and nothing will be able to save it.

Well If we are going to be comparing handhelds to home consoles then I think the WiiU to the Vita is a far better comparison.
Can i answer your question with an other answer. Wasnt the Wii U the console which will destroy the competition over the holidays?
As you can see people expect a lot and are often worong with there expection ( including myself of course)

According to who? It plain to anyone that wasn't going to be the case. I mean Nintendo released sales estimates for the Wii U leading up to the end of the fiscal year. Those numbers made it clear that the PS3 and 360 were going to outsell the Wii U at launch. Even without such numbers, common sense would lead to the same conclusion.

Reasonable people -- including some of the most zealous Nintendo fans -- knew to expect the Wii U not to outsell PS3 & 360 over the Holidays. Sales of a brand-new console and two late-cycle consoles are effectively incomparable, whereas the difference between two consoles (portable or not) both in their first Holiday season is a reasonable comparison.
Seriously, no, the Wii U was NOT "supposed" to outsell PS3 or 360 this month, and everyone but the most disillusioned fanboys knew that. Nintendo knew that. Consider also that Wii U is selling close to Nintendo's expectations, the ones that matter. At the start of the current fiscal year, Sony projected 10 million Vita console sales and 6 million PSP console sales from April 2012 to March 2013. By November (yes, last month!), this projection had be altered to 10 million combined hardware sales between the two consoles. VGChartz numbers currently have their combined sales at something like 3.5 million since the end of March this year.
Wii U is selling about as well as Nintendo expected. Vita is selling dramatically more poorly than Sony expected. Their expectations are more important than those of random fans on an internet forum, right?

It isn't looking good but it isn't the nail in the coffin. Its really the software people should concern themselves with. If games don't pick up by the end of march they will migrate completely to nintendo. And unlike nintendo sony can't carry a system on their own since their games clearly aren't true system sellers (gran turismo being an exception).
One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

Nope, only SONY fans.
