I'm sure you're all aware of the recent news that PS3 did 525k during BF week and the ecosystem (hardware, software, peripherals) was up 9% YOY.  Meanwhile, both Wii and 360 (with Halo 4) are quite a bit down from last year (although 360 still sold incredibly well) and another console with no big exclusives for the holidays, 3DS, was massively down from last year. 

Why was the PS3 such an anomaly this year? Why does it defy gravity? Surely this isn't because of PSAS: Battle Royale...

The X360 is facing market saturation which is causing its sales to decrease. The PS3, however, doesn't have market saturation yet and is still experiencing good sales.

What if we take 360 out of the equation and view the PS3 sales in a vacuum? You'd expect it to sell very well but why did the sales even go UP?
