Well yea, this I agree with. I am a little more optimistic about Fable:TJ then you are, but it has a very good chance of being crap. To be fair, Fable is an average RPG, and I think TJ will be an average....action game? They have kind of switched genres.

PM always fails on his promises, but his games turn out to be....okay. I think TJ will be the same. If we were to look at all upcoming games for the 360, Fable: TJ still counts. Kinect doesn't matter, it's still a game for the core, and who knows, it may surprise us.

Fables TJ turns out to be ok, just like the rest of the overhyped series??? That i can get behind. And although i dont even have a 360 let alone Kinect at least MS is trying to get some core and differenct games on their add-on and just not exercise game number 42 that some other companies like to peddle, that rhymes with mentindo.

Excellent Debate

A Wiimote only has 12 buttons, including the trigger and 2 other back buttons, and an analog stick. Easily replicated with Kinect.

All the evidences say otherwise. As I pointed out a few posts ago (you ignored): Peter Molyneux "admits that Kinect has got some problems. As an input device it has some real problems".

Moreover i've yet to see a good on-rail shooter on kinect. Just one.

really?

MS and Sony had fare better confrences then Nintendo!

15min of some dam orchestra playing. if i wanted to here music i would have turned on my radio.
Nintendo thought they could do wht Sony thought they could do back when PS3 was shown/annouced.
Srry to tell Nintendo you can't just show up, annouce a new console, show some dam renders, and think they can win.

people wake up! the Wiiu is releasing next yr and Nintendo has nothing but renders and nothing significant enough annouced for the launch of the Wiiu. this fact alone is why Nintendo did not win E3.

and yes u did miss a few things from Sony and MS press conference.

The XBOX 360 is set to have its weakest year so far while the PS3 is set to have its best year so far. I just wouldn't expect to hear something like that when the XBOX 360 has next to no exclusives game coming out in the near future outside of Kinect games and the flagship titles like Halo, Gears and Forza.

I understand now because you were including Kinect titles, don't worry, I was thinking more about hardcore games.

But a lot of upcoming Kinect titles are core, even though most aren't. Steel Batallion, Rise of Nightmares, Ryse, and debatably Fable.

It is true though, that MS needs to establish a new IP. Those Kinect games won't be AAA, but they may sell close to what Sly Cooper sells.

Then agin, do you consider something like Sly Cooper hardcore, or casual?

Core =/= Good

I don't have faith in any "core" Kinect game, it just doesn't seem feasible to have core controls with a Kinect game. I was focusing on games from highly rated and well respected developers, preferably without motion controls.

It would be great to see a new IP from Microsoft, they need to throw some spare change at Rare and kick their asses back into gear.

As for Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, I wouldn't call it hardcore or casual, it's a game for everyone. I haven't actually played it and I don't plan to either, but it reminds me of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, it's a game that both casual and hardcore audiences can love.

A game for everyone huh? So where do you draw the line for a casual experience? Is Mario Kart casual, or for everyone? What about Just Dance, or Wii Sports?

As for a "core" Kinect game. I can see why anyone would be skeptical. Remember how many people were skeptical of Wii when it came out? However it works, Metroid Prime 3 is probably the funnest FPS I have ever played, but most good Wii games don't use the Wii-mote to it's fullest (Smash Bros, Mario Kart, etc).

However showing "core" Kinect games, skeptical as most gamers might be, they are still "core." It's just not traditional controller based core games, and I'll agree MS definatly needs more traditional games.

Mario Kart is a game for everybody, it's simple and fun. Wii sports is crossing the line, moving into a casual title, Just Dance steps way over the line.

And can you blame me for being skeptical, the difference between the Wii and Kinect is that the Wii has buttons (as Sony like to put it). Body movements cannot replace 17 buttons and 2 triggers, I stand by my word when I say every Kinect game will have to be on rails as well. Only a minority of hardcore game can be on rails, panzer dragoon for example or an arcade shooter.

A Wiimote only has 12 buttons, including the trigger and 2 other back buttons, and an analog stick. Easily replicated with Kinect.

Ghost Recon can run entirely on Kinect, I think we will have to wait and see how Kinect core titles look like.

But I agree with you, On Rails shooters will probably be the best of the Kinect core lineup, and looking at reviews for Child of Eden, that can be really really good. I hope Project Draco turns into a Panzer Dragoon title.

However if you take a game like Steel Batallion, and make leaning = movement, it coild still work. We really have to wait and see.

It's cool to be skeptical, not trying to change your opinion, but there are upcoming core games for Kinect. That's all I want to prove. You can just look at E3 and immediatly ignore every Kinect title, a lot of them have potential. After all Dance Central is an 8/10, and child of Eden for 360 got 8.9/10 on this website. Kinect can produce quality games.

"Easily replicated with Kinect"

It's just impossible, even to replicate the 12 buttons on the Wii, you will have to perform 12 different body actions simply to play the game, I do not see this happening. Sure somebody could do it on a hacked PC, but it is slow and combersome, quality control wouldn't allow it.

The ghost recon demo was a dismal failure, and the person wasn't even MOVING, let alone jumping, using grenades or basically any other action than pointing and waving to shoot a gun. I have dismissed every single Kinect game that was shown at E3, I refuse to believe that any hardcore gamer would play them. Only a few developers will think outside the box and create a quality game for Kinect, something that is different. I have never play Child of Eden but it gets rave reviews, so whatever. The point I am trying to make is that it is a rare exception. Does 1 motion control game justify a £130 price tag though? I don't think so.

if you put an ugly person and next to him you put an uglier person the ugly person will look better, that what happened with Microsoft they did a bad show this year that they made Sony and Nintendo look better.

I am talking about everything that went on at E3 not just the press conferences.

OK so I was on vacation last week and only paid partial attention to E3. I have watched the MS E3 presentation and seen many of the other 360 announcements made by MS and others post the presentation.  If it wasnt shown, but we know its coming I will not mention it. I wont mention multiplatform (I dont mean what may show up on PC) even if they have console specific features.

For 360 I see the following showcased titles (all week)

Gears 3 - September 2011
Forza 4 - October 2011
Halo CE Anniversary - November 2011
Halo 4 - 2012
Dance Central 2 - Holiday 2011
Kinect Sports 2 - Holiday 2011
Kinect Star Wars - Holiday 2011
Kinect Disneyland Adventures - November 2011
Ryse - 2012
Fable: The Journey - 2012
Minecraft - Winter 2011
Rise of Nightmares - Fall 2011
Sesame Street - Fall 2011
XCOM - 2012

New voice enabled Metro UI 360 dashboard with youtube, ufc, live tv, bing enabled integrated content search. New Xbox Live features include cloud storage, beacons.

Many new XBLA titles.

So I contrast that with the stuff I heard about for PS3 and Wii.

Wii
New Zelda - Fall 2011
New Kirby - Fall 2011

PS3
Resistance 3 - Fall 2011
Uncharted 3 - Fall 2011
Twisted Metal - Fall 2011
Starhawk - 2012
Sly Cooper 4 - 2012
PSP God of War titles packaged for PS3
As far as I know nothing new for PSN.

So what did I miss?

Quite a lot actually

Team ICO titles remastered for fall 2011.

MGS2-3 remastered for the PS3.

Silent Hill remastered for the PS3.

Move sorcey title.

Ruins for PS3 and Vita.

Dust 514.

PixelJunk sidescroller for PSN.

LBP for PS Vita

Modnation racers for PS Vita

Uncharted PS Vita

Bioshock PS Vita

and all the things he said ^

I didn't ignore that, I read it, and I've said Fable: TJ will likely be a different experience. Probably not as good as mainstream Kinect titles, but not necessarily bad. In that link Peter Molyneux only said it was hard to make Fable game with Kinect, and that he approached the game from a different perspective because "What Kinect does have is a great sense of freedom and emotion. So that's what we've tried to do with Fable: The Journey."

He also said "To a certain extent, we need to convince you that Fable: The Journey is a 90+ [review score] game, and if it was on-rails our chances just go through the floor. It's NOT going to be on-rails." So obviously he believes the game will be good, but that says nothing cause he always overhypes all his games.

Also a good on rail shooter. Child of Eden. VGC gave it an 8.9/10. Give Kinect time, it's not even a year old, it will likely get one or two good on rail shooters. Project Draco, if that becomes Panzer Dragoon, that will likely kick ass.

They didn't.

Microsoft basically branched off from last years E3 and displayed how Kinect has made the Xbox 360 superior. Kinect has shown that it can be such a big part of the gaming universe with its compatiabilitiy with Mass Effect 3 and Halo: CE Remake.

Wii U sucks and unfortunatly I didn't see the Playstation 3 segment.
