I've read one where Tartarus was the primordial darkness god that preceded the light and the cosmos, out of which all creation sprang, but I've also head that same concept applid to Chaos

It's a very muddy mythology. They needed an Edda

Come to think of it, what does Kratos say in that very first teaser?

In the end, there will be only Chaos.

Clearly that didn't go so well, because I'm not Chaos, and neither are you, and neither are the VGC servers. But...it could mean that he kills everything except Chaos and...whichever one of the Greek deities really created the universe, and then he re-creates the universe and adds internet porn.

EDIT: Unless...Kratos kills all of them, and he becomes the creator. Did Bayonetta create a universe? On second thoughts, don't answer that.

Just to point out, EVEN IF Kratos killed all of them, the way Bayonetta kills the final boss is something far outside the scale of Kratos's abilities. And she still wasn't sweatting it at all.

Oh and the Witch you thought she was weak because she was struggling with, that witch road a fucking motorcycle up the side of a rocket into space and then.... yeah that would be too many spoilers. Point is she was almost as godly powerful as Bayonetta.

Bayonetta sounds like she subscribes to the same school of bad-ass as Dante, just take to a logical extreme

Makes for good spectacle and fun boss fights

I will see, soon, if it's compelling

*Is enjoying the Bayonetta love in this thread*

It simply IS the best action game I've ever played, smooth, deep, lots of length, lots of extras, just a ton of content, not to mention the style, and some fan service to the Clover fans for icing on the cake.

Now as for the vs, Dante killed some pretty epic shit, which laid the ground for GoW so Kratos could kill even more epic shit, and now Bayonetta ups that and kills the biggest badest monsters ever put in a game, and does it without breaking a sweat. You can call her cheap, you definitely don't feel over powered in game, in fact you feel like everything and anything will try to murder you if you give it half a chance especially on hard mode. But in the end you realize the extent of her power is greater than any other action game character.

Best action game ever? A great game no doubt, but that is a serious stretch. Don't ban me

That said it is pretty awesome.

Its all opinion man

But I'd dare you to tell me a better action game and give me some good reasons why its better (I'm talking gameplay btw)

Not a genre I have been playing much in the last few years, but I will say that silly story is one of the things that holds Bayonetta back. Gameplay is pretty much flawless though.

Rarely do I see a good story in an action game, in fact there rarely is a story at all, but if there is its not up there with the likes of RPGs (much like The Green Mile and movies of that nature are story based) and such, so really much like action movies, its all about the thrills of said action, which is done in cut scenes and in gameplay, and you just admitted the gameplay is pretty much flawless so I rest my case :P

Well in some concepts, Chaos itself was the first deity and nothing created the universe out of it, Chaos itself did.

But that's actually where I see the series going in the ending, yeah

"God of War explains, or will ultimately explain, why there are no more Greek gods/myths"

-Cory Barlog (I think)

So, it should make some sort of sense in the continuity which we know as reality.

Hence my expectation. I wouldn't expect it to tie into our reality if not for the bonus content from the first game, which suggested just that...

I assume you refer to the video...with Cronus?

Yessssssssssss

Damnation they should have left some of that stuff canon. I half-expect Kratos's brother to show up in GoW3.

Is it just me, or did GoW1 have more secrets than game?

So that video wasn't canon? Thank god, do you REALLY want God of War: Modern Warfare?

Though I admit, it would be...interesting, and it wouldn't technically be Sony reneging on their claim of no more GoW games, because it wouldn't be a GoW game.

What about Dante from Dante's Inferno?

Seriously, I'm betting every person in here saying Kratos has not played half way through Bayonetta. It's really like saying Iron man is just going to shoot Super Man with his missiles and machine guns and then Superman will be totally fucked, Iron Man ROXXORS! Kratos is not anywhere near as powerful NO WHERE NEAR as powerful as bayonetta. It is not a contest. If you think Kratos would win, it is because you are a Kratos fanboy and have not played Bayonetta. The power difference between the two is stark and blatantly obvious for anyone who has played bayonetta.

Bayonetta is cheap , not powerfull...

You can beat almost every single enemy using the same strat that requires no skill...

All you need is to push 1 button, no dodging, nothing required.. And that is the best action game of the gen.../sigh...

If you want to die... nor realize certain enemies are easier to beat with certain weapons and strategies... you only hit 1 button in the very easy mode lol its called 1 button mode for a reason

I'm talking normal mode...

Strat is very easy..

Run into a corner away from enemies and face the corner.

Charge katana triangle, unleash when enemies come on screen ( they will not attack you from offscreen).

Panther form, run away to another corner, rinse and repeat....

This gentlemen is the best action game of the gen.............

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

That does not work at all.... that's so ridiculously stupid that I can't possibly explain all the epic fail in this statement. Uh, I'll try.

Most areas you are fighting enemies don't have "corners"
Most enemies will never give you time to "stand in one place to charge up your katana."
Almost no enemies past the first 3 chapters ever lay off you long enough to let you run away.
Almost every enemy after chapter 3 has some sort of ranged attack.
Some enemies, even on normal, can easily kill you in 3-4 hits.
A good 1/4 of the enemies in the game fly, which makes the Katana's cross-slash useless.
At least 1/3 of the fights in the game are bosses, sub-bosses, or enemies so fast and aggressive that this strategy is unbelievably stupid.

Basically you've just made a strategy for the first 2 angels in the game... which you shouldn't need a strategy for anyway cause they are trash mobs, and which is completely ineffective against anything after that.

And even ignoring all of this hard mode enemies have 4 times the health, do 3 times the damage, are faster, more aggressive, and have new moves.

Watching a youtube video then posting about a game you've never played = giant fucking loss.
