Fantastic effort guys. Thumbs up to everyone who downloaded. Massive thumbs up if you donated to Shelter Charity. The group raised £60,000 + Gift Aid for Shelter, so even if we don't get number 1 we can be proud of that. Tom Morello also said that he is donating his windfall to Shelter and Youth Music.

We find out at ~6:55pm UK time.

Lets hope we did enough!

It's all over!

So the choices are tv driven pop fluff or wanna be underground pop fluff. Not seeing much difference here.

Rage are in no way shape or form "pop fluff".

I would definitely consider Rage in the commercial pop category.  Now if you were referring to some good gabber then we could talk about saving music.

You would probably be winning right now if they'd chosen to back last week's number 1 instead of a 15 year old song that wasn't that popular to start with.

The sort of person who buys Lady Gaga is the same sort of person who buys the X Factor song. RATM (almost) has no overlap with the X Factor audience.

Also consider the sort of person a Rage Against the Machine fan is. Can you imagine getting Lady Gaga's fans to rebel against Simon Cowell?

RATM are popular in the UK. They headlined Reading Festival (2nd biggest music festival in the UK) in 2008. Killing in the Name is also infamous in the UK because it was played unedited on BBC Radio 1's Top 40 show when it first released.

That is almost true.. because of her performence on the x factor, she ended up getting #1 last week.

GaGa is number 3...

It's now between Rage and Joe.

Hopefully Rage can make it!

WE GOT IT!!!

Xfactor - Fuck you!

WE FUCKING DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RAGE NUMBER 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
