This game is a system seller for me... I'm waiting until Christmas to buy a Wii for this game alone.

Unless there's an announcement of bringing the game onto the PS3 using the motion controls

i fully advise it.its a fantastic game.It might have a bug very rarely in a couple of instances, but the odds of it showing up are few.Is also a long and more fun in higher difficulties. The best on railed graphics ever too.

Oh..on topic..dont bet on third person games to do any better.Cursed mountain anyone?.It would probably have sold less and costed them even more.Wii owners dont know dead space, they dont read reviews and the lack of tv ads and horrible box art were killers.

Maybe I would have considered it if the House of the Dead series wasn't already on the Wii... Even without House of the Dead there is also the Resident Evil series which I would also buy over this.

What a load of crap, the graphics are pretty terrible.  As I said in a post above Umbrella Chronicles which was just a bunch of GC/PS2 stuff reused looks a lot better.

I agree, the graphics in Dead Space are pretty awful.  RE graphics do look much nicer.  Also, I'm loving Sin & Punishment"s art style, for me, that game has the most beautiful on rails graphics.

getting agressive for me posting my honest opinion? Chronicles doesnt look any better in terms of facial expressions, textures, lighting and shadows.I wasnt even impressed back then when i got it(well maybe a bit).By contrast, DE surprised me for stretching so well the wii capabilities.by .And the design of Sin and Punnishment 2 is very nice and all, but is just design.Otherwise models even of the main characters, look ps2 ish.Which honestly dissapoints me.Thats my opinion, and to be honest, recommend the user to try for himself. And is not like im making a far fetched proposition.Nearly Every SINGLE gaming site has similarly aknowledged for DSE for pulling visuals far ahead HOTD or UC.If you think,it doesnt, so be it.But dont bash my opinion for being honest, im suggesting this game for that and a number of reasons(such as the indeep story scoop) for the ones looking foward to it.

I think it's because it's an on-rails shooter. People can tell when they are getting the second level games no matter how good they are, instead of the main show, and they tend to not want to buy number 2. :P

Dead Space was the real game. Might as well call this "Dead Space: Spinoff - Onrails Wii shooter, move on - game".

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Sorry but DSE has some really crap parts on the graphics, while I was playing near the start of chapter 2 before everything goes dark (read: covers up poorer graphics) I was looking at a display on one of the walls and it reminded me of Dino Crisis wall quality which I was playing last week. Dino Crisis is a PS1 game. I am not saying the entire game is like that, but my god. Most of the game is PS2 level at best, the Wii can do a lot better.

I've not finished the game yet (still early on) so I'm wondering how consistant things are.

*Shrugs* i hope it can do more.I cant remember playing any part with ps2 level of quality.Im just pulling some quick quotes of reviews besides mine:

Graphics (from gamefocus)

The Wii might be the weakest of the three consoles this generation in terms of overall graphic prowess, but this is a great looking game which should not be looked at lightly. The game runs at a smooth frame rate from start to finish, the animations for all of the characters and necromorphs are great and the special effects are excellent. Even the level design which was outstanding in the first Dead Space game is just as good this time around or even more since this is a game which follows a pre-determined path. I cannot think of a better looking Wii game in general terms.

From game chronicles

I’ve come to expect a certain level of sub-par graphics with the Wii so I was totally blown away with the outstanding visuals of Extraction. Sure, it’s a far cry from the 360, but it's impressive as hell for the Wii with fantastic level design and character models, creepy lighting, and all sorts of ghostly supernatural effects that play mind games with the character and the player. There were plenty of F.E.A.R. moments.

from atomic gamer

Furthermore, Extraction is a technical powerhouse that benefits from top notch production values, a spot-on visual and aural aesthetic and solid gameplay. The necromorphs are large, well animated and numerous, and the framerate never so much as stutters. Strategic dismemberment has by no means been toned down, either. In fact, all around the game is beautifully done, and all more impressively so on the Wii’s relatively underpowered hardware. Just wait till you see the characters’ facial expressions. Capcom might be touting Monster Hunter Tri has the “most beautiful game on the Wii” but one look at Extraction and you might question that claim.

and thats just a token, because i did try to find ANY site saying something on the other side.None found. If you felt that was what the ps2 was doing ...Well i dont own a ps2 anymore but i dont remember anything along those lines. To each their own.

On top of that, they didn't even bother to price the game correctly.  The big name rail shooters like House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return, House of the Dead: Overkill, and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles all have a MSRP of $30.  On Amazon they only run $20 new.  Why buy Dead Space when I can get two of the other games for slightly less, or all three for just a little more?

thank god nobody bought DS:Extraction

or else we would be flooded with cheap DS:E2 DS:E3 etc etc...

nobody loves rail shooters THAT much.........

Didn't UC and Overkill cost the full $50 at first? I'm sure the latter did, with all the comments about not selling well at full price. If UC did, it at least had enough length, replay value, and brand name to sell at that.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

I really don't know.  That is what the games cost now.  But if these games didn't sell well at full price, what makes EA think their game with a weaker IP will?
