Ps3 isn't powerful enough to reach the uncanny valley.
Next generation though, and It will be here.

I have to scratch my head at "The Polar Express" comparison. That movie was pretty successful as "Beowulf" and "A Christmas Carol" now are being done in the same animation style. In fact, that's all Zemeckis has ever done since "The Polar Express" is work with that animation style, so I fail to see how that is a valid comparison for failure.

I just want to add that I am playing Uncharted 2 at the moment, and there are zero issues with anything related to the Uncanny Valley. If Uncharted 2 doesn't have it, Heavy Rain won't have it. End of story.

I have noticed it seems to affect people very differently. For me, I cannot stand the sight of that woman. It creeps my eyeballs out. Heavy Rain's characters fall right into that category as well. Viewing a thread CGI-quality had posted in was absolute torture for me before they added the ability to disable sigs. It isn't frightening in the least. It is just extremely unpleasant to look at. It cannot really be accurately portrayed in words. Oh and of course we are not monkeys. That is the most absurd argument ever. Who could think we were monkeys? We are quite obviously genetically distinct on a number of levels, and advanced far beyond anything they could ever hope to accomplish. Also, we lack a tail. That means we are Apes. |
We most certainly are not apes... as for that picture it doesn't bother me in the slightest... but then again I loved Chobits so maybe my epi-genome isn't the same as your weak epi-genome... maybe you should go about rewiring the way you think so you can change your epi-genome... it's possible...

it's on the wrong platform... or rather it's not on the right platform... take that how you want to
“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

The game may be weird, and realistic. But there's a large market for that kinda stuff.People do like weird games.
I am interested in seeing what the sales will be like, even though I doubt I'll be buying it.

The PS3 baby ad being creepy could be explained by the uncanny valley though. |
I think it's better explained by the fact that it has a demonic baby in it.
