I just saw the boxart for Zack&wiki and i must say it will flop, the wii gamers on this site seem to think it will sell alot of units, but i think they will be wrong. I think Naruto will outsell it, in the short time, the only thing to save Z&K is word of mouth.

I don't like the idea behind this thread because we haven't defined what a flop is.  Is it making a profit?  Is it selling a game because it's a quality game?  Is it based on the expectations of 3rd party developers? 

I'm gonna take a guess and say that capcom would be fine with a game like Zack and Wiki selling 200k WW while a game like no more heroes they would expect more like 300-400k, RE:UC more like 500-600k. 

Some games are good games but they only serve a niche audience (killer7), you can't assume games like that will sell well. 

Zack and Wiki particularly is a pretty low budget game, no more heroes also seems to be fairly low budget, RE:UC is small budget when compared to other RE games, and i'm not sure on NiGHTS.  GH3 and PES 2008 are on many different platforms. 

Here are my predictions, I suspect that many of these games will flop because they will be overshadowed by more high profile first-party software.

No More Heroes - FLOP - will be too niche to sell well.

PES 2008 - FLOP - sports games really don't seem to sell well on the Wii (with the obvious exception of Wii Sports).

NiGHTS - FLOP - Perhaps the very definition of a cult game and cult games never sell well. Which is unfortunate as the original was delightful.

Zack & Wiki - FLOP - perhaps too niche to find a good following, will most likely get good reviews and deserve to sell well but won't.

Resident Evil: UC - NOT - will probably not sell as well as RE4 but will still do quite well.

Guitar Hero III - NOT - almost certain not to flop.

Godzilla Unleashed - FLOP - The Game really doesn't bring anything phenomenal to the foray that we haven't seen before and ATari isn't exactly a highly anticipated developer.

Zack & Wiki - FLOP / MEDIOCRE - Too niche and kiddy, and kiddy only sells to the hardcore audience when its put on the 360. Word of mouth might save it though.

PES 2008 - FLOP / MEDIOCRE - The game will do well in some regions but not the west.

Final Fantasy: Chocobo Dungeon - FLOP / MEDIOCRE - It's hard to know whether this game will really draw much attention. Squre also puts no money into backing non-Sony titles

Project O - FLOP / MEDIOCRE - I just don't see this game getting that much attention outside of Japan.

NIGHTS - MEDIOCRE - Depending on how aware the public is made of this game it could go either way.

Soul Callibur Legends - MEDIOCRE - Its hard to weigh where this one stands, it may be burdened by the stigma of being a spin-off title.

Sonic & Mario Olympics - MEDIOCRE - This is a Sega game and not a terribly deep one despite the exciting premise, I think Sega has too high of hopes for it. 

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Little Prince - MEDIOCRE - Crystal Chronicles doesn't seem like a series many FF fans have a great deal of faith in and this could easily be swept under the radar. Squre also puts no money into backing non-Sony titles

Destroy All Humans: BWU - MEDIOCRE / NOT  - This may be the kind of game to get decent attention.

Skies of Arcadia 2 - MEDIOCRE / NOT - This might do well but there may be too few to remember the original. 

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: CB - MEDIOCRE / NOT - This may do better than its counterpart as there will be a little more hype behind it but its success remains in quesiton. The Crystal Chronicles name still carries with it a dark stigma.

No More Heroes - MEDIOCRE / NOT - The game will do well but will not be what many expected hindering its success.

Oboro Muramasa - MEDIOCRE / NOT - It will do well but how much attention it gets will make or break it. 

Star Wars: Force Unleashed - NOT - This will probably be the first cross platform game that does the best on the Wii. 

Resident EVil: UC - NOT - IF anything people have faith in the RE franchise on the Wii and many will look forward to this new installment. It's only problem would be lack of adequate mainstream advertising.

Guitar Hero III - NOT - It may not do as well as the othe rversions of Guitar Hero III but will still hold its own.

Tales of Symphonia 2 - NOT - Too many people loved the original TOS. Even if it was only a niche crowd it was a game that gave many reason to buy a GC.

If you define Flop that the sales dont cover the budget - then only nights may be a flop. I dont think most of them are not very expensive. Budget may also be hard to define, PES and GH are multiplatform, how many of it's budget is devoted to the Wii-version? So I define flop as sales under 500K. No more heroes - FLOP: It's not mainstream. It will make up for the developing-cost and make barely a little profit, but it will not reach 500K. Nights - FLOP: It looks promising and I dont want it to flop - but it's from Sega and I dont believe this style will catch many consumers. PES - FLOP: Sport games dont sell good on Wii yet. Zack&Wiki - NO FLOP: It will sell between 500K and 1Million, because lately some good hype for it was builded. Capcom will be very happy about the sales. RE:UC - NO FLOP: It will also sell around 1 Million. RE5 if released on Wiii should sell 3M. GHIII - GREAT: Will sell about a million before year ends. It's a guaranteed success. Mario&Sonic@Olympia - NO FLOP: It's from Sega, but it has big names from game-franchises and Olympia. It cannot fail. On the other hand - the licences may be very expensive. If Sega screws up it sell more than 1 million and maybe it's a loss for Sega anyways. I dont know how much they payed, so I hope Sega calculated right.

the hype for Z&W is mainly on "hardcore" sites ,while the usual Wii gamer isn't hardcore , so I think although it will be a wonderful game it won't sell as well as it deserves to :(

same with NiGHTS .. I loved the original soo much and I really hope ,that it's a success ,if this one is a good game (lately we can't be that sure if a game has SEGA on it :/ ) , but if I'm realistic I can't see this being bought that often

I know everyone said Zack and Wiki will not flop but I have not heard of this game until I came into this post, has it gotten good ratings? I go to IGN everyday so maybe I missed it.

No More Heroes - FLOP - Definitely think this is a big time belly wacker, if Metroid Prime 3 sold as poorly as it has, then imagine how bad No More Heroes will be... sorry but this is the worst of the bunch in this list!

NiGHTS - FLOP - Yep, it's gonna flop it aint going to be a massive seller, it's good to start flushing more games onto the Wii though but it aint gonna do big numbers, though I think it has more chance of selling mroe than Z&W.

Zack & Wiki - FLOP - This game will flop hard... it will sell under 100k for its first week and then follow similar sales like Lair. Yep, I went there.

That said, I don't necessarily want the three games that I said will flop to flop - infact I will probably own them all, however that doesn't change the fact that the WILL.
