Forums - Gaming - GT explains its Uncharted 2 score

" No matter what, if a game is not innovative it will NEVER get a higher score than what we gave UNCHARTED 2, when a developer puts together everything that other devs have done its basically a me 2 thing, Uncharted 2 is exactly like the first game, be happy we said buy it if you have a ps3"

Gears of War 1  : 9.1

Gears of War 2 : 9.5

whats innovative about Gears 2?

Uncharted 1 : Single player only

Uncharted 2 : + Online ,  + coop , + matchmaking ++++++++  blah blah blah.

Guess i'll leave you alone in the dark Gametrailers

It's an opinion, and a 9.3 is a great score.

Gears of War 2 - 9.5
Gears is back--was it worth the wait?

Looks like, Drake is not back, or not so back as Gears...

They have the right to.. -gasp- have an opinion. The mentality that a game isn't great because it's a few points away from a 10 is completely asicinine. I'd admit that their language towards the game is somewhat misleading but there are more pressing issues than a 9.3 out of ten. They said over and over that the game is worthy of your money and that you should get the game if you have a PS3 but it's not anything revolutionary. They gave LBP and SMG higher scores because despite their faults, they managed to do something new and feel fresh.

Ultimately, Gametrailers loves originality.

but GTA IV scored a 9.8

I never played GTA IV long enough to comment fully but from what I remember from their review, the game revolutionized the sandbox genre in severals ways.  Uncharted 2 is Uncharted 1 with some elements borrowed from Call of Duty and Gears of War.  Also there's a higher standard in 2009 than 2008.

Pixel Art can be fun.

Now you're just grasping for straws.

yes the standards I understand, but GTA IV didn't revolutionize the sandbox genre.. to do that you usually have to bring something that nobody has ever done, and it takes off.. maybe the cell phone..

The cell phone thing was originally from Saint's Row.

-watches the GTA4 review again-

GTA 3 did, not GTA IV.

GTA IV was actually the same as GTA 3 with HD graphics + phones. its even have much less gameplay elements than San Andreas and Vice City

well halo 3 wasn't innovative, whats the score?

I was gonna post something similiar to the Gears 1 and 2 reviews. But in all honesty, the review from GT doesn't even matter. U2 has already done what either Gears couldn't, and that's become the highest rated exclusive this gen (Tied with SMG)
