Forums - Sales - Pachter fails to quit whilst hes ahead. more crazy talk

not the craziest things hes ever said, id argue a few of his points, and i dont think he separates the gaming markets that have split well enough, but i can see where he got his ideas and where he is going

Seems ok to me.... nothing really off the wall here except WiiHD.

I don't see what's so terrible about what he said.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

when a household gets an HDTV, all they think about is HD content

I think this is where his argument fails.

It should be more like... when a household gets an HDTV, all they think about is "ohhh, a big, light and flat TV".

After playing PS3 in HD i just don't get the obsession with it. It does not make a game better or worse

He just keeps pushing back his Wii HD prediction. It used to be it was coming in 2009, now it is coming in fall 2010.

The funny thing is, if he keeps pushing back his prediction, it will eventually come true when Nintendo launches its Eighth Generation console.

It's not that he's not rational, it's just that he doesn't understand Nintendo's strategy. Or else he wouldn't have said that the PS3 and 360 were competitors.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Nintendo will never release a Wii HD, just to piss him off.

So true.

While an HDTV is necessary for HD content, owning an HDTV does not necessitate HD content. Adoption of HDTVs opens the door to consumers getting HD content, but it doesn't instill them with an insatiable lust for pixels.

I agree with his opinion on Apple in the handheld space, though.

So according to him, 2/3 of the US households have a SD TV. He's seen MS stop supplying SD cables in their consoles. He's seen MS remove the 720p requirement in their games. He's heard Epic say that 1/2 of the GOW gamers use SD TV. GOW players are likely the core audience MS and Sony had been targeting from the start about this "HD generation."

So why again should Nintendo move into "HD generation?"
