Uhm... wasn't last year the first time NoA ever had the fall summit? And the main reason was to talk about Club Nintendo for America and repeat exactly what NoJ said... so really... what would be the reason NoA would host the event again? So they can announce new items for the American Club Nintendo? Hardly...

The fall summit will happen in Japan, like it always has, any news will be announced there and instantly posted on all major gaming websites which is what would happen if NoA had the summit, so really you get the same ends with a different set of means.

But if it ends up like trestres says, without also a Japan conference (outside of Kyoto Cross) it would be disappointed...there's not news about the Kyoto Cross instead of the Media Summit? until news we can still believe in a Japan Media Summit?

And I'm not whining, I'm just informing what Nintendo said, although I didn't know I could hurt some feelings with it. I'm not making anything up, as there are 2 events happening, one on September 16th in Europe and one on October 3rd-4th in Japan, both which didn't happen last year. So I don't see a reason for another event happening days later if they are both more than enough to announce or show whatever they have to.

Why do people care? We know their megatons for the holiday - WiiFitPlus & NSMB Wii. Potentially the two biggest titles they could pull out.

They don't need price cuts, new colours or anything else. Maybe a bundle or two, and they will have another great Xmas.

Remember, they couldn't care less about "coming first" (re: sales) - but they do care about being 1st re:profits. And this is likely to be their most profitable Xmas... ever?

@shams: Well, kind of off-topic, but in order to reach the projections (Which is extremely important for their image with their investors and shareholders) they would have to do something about the slowing sales. They will be 4 million down FY over FY by next week. They will need something to make up for those 4 million lost.

If they feel they can't they'll adjust down when the quarter ends at the end of the month
