Forums - Sales Discussion - I sincerely hope Sony didn't lose too much money on the PS3 Slim launch.

Microsoft is expanding their business to the video game industry.
If it fails they will still have the feet to stand back up.

Sony is kinda like Microsoft just in a smaller scale.
We should just be happy that Sony hasn't given up on the
PlayStation brand and is still striving to improve.

I can't imagine if Sony pulled away from the video game industry.
It will be the end of the world i guess xD

Lets just pretend the X BOX project hasn't netted Microsoft 10billion losses.

Oh, just because I didn't mention it doesn't mean I'm ignoring that either. It's just their system has been profitable for a while (and if they're smart, the next one will be profitable from day one), and I was hoping Sony would follow suit, but I don't know if that will even happen by the end of next year.

Microsoft has posted 2 consecutive quarterly losses, and with the Elite price drop, they are well on their way to more losses.  The data does not support your statement.  Don't feel bad for Sony, they just sold 500k consoles in a week.  I think they will be just fine.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Why bring up the Microsoft when this is about Sony.

Take my love, take my land..

Because that is the nature of the Business Simulacrum. Look at the losses for both of these competitors. Sega is more profitable than Sony (just barely) and Microsoft is last by a very large distance.

Nintendo on the other hand boasts over 30billion in profit.

well at least sony assets are higher xD

I'm 100% certain PS3 Slim sales posted a profit. Why? Because of sales in PAL regions.

look guys economy aint that simple, u dont just win 5 dollars for every console sold or somethin like that. There are stuff Sony needed to control, the more sales slow down, the more they lose. They also have to save the playstation brand from diminishing, thats why they had to do what they did. Its not about losses anymore, its about the future of playstation.

Its a great move and i think it'll get profitable soon if sales surge

They certainly made a profit from me.
