I can see why FFX-2 is in that list. FFX had a great story with a great ending(something most games don't have). And what did X-2 do? It pretty much tried to ruin the impact of FFX's ending.

Chrono Cross is a bad sequel but a great game on it's own merits. MGS2 is a good sequel that just had a couple of major controversial elements.

How is Chrono Cross a bad sequel?  Chrono Cross has more in comon with Chrono Trigger than any Final Fantasy has in comon with any other Final Fantasy game, with the exeption of X-2 of course.  I have not played the game for awhile but I remember a few of the similarities.  Chrono Cross makes numerous references to Chrono Trigger inlcuding major Lucca elements, numerous characters make appearances such as Chrono, Marle, Lucca, Slash/Flea/Ozzie, Toma, Jonny, Belthasar,Masa,Mune,Doreen and many others, has the same items, has triple-techs, and even has the same final bosses Schala and Lavos.  Outside of items, Chocobos, music, and Summon Spirits Final Fantasy games don't have alot in common with each other.  I can think of far worse sequels such as Castlevania 2 Simons Quest, Double Dragon 3, GTA4, Zelda 2, Wizards and Warriors 3 etc.  Chrono Cross was a masterpiece.

Chrono Cross wasnt the worst sequel...but it felt like stand alone game also, as Rapsuperstar pointed out there are connection,but the vague...CC wasnt a TRUE sequel just a game in the same Universe and just to point out CC was more of a sequel to Radical Dreamers and a CT spinoff not released out side of Japan

I very much doubt GameSpot thought it was a bad sequel, seeing as they gave it a perfect 10.

GameSpot and G4 are both complete jokes, so it's odd that they are disagreeing. I guess they're both wrong.

Chrono Cross is a pretty good game (with lame endings IMO) that has a very good story and cool gameplay. However, the magic that Chrono Trigger delivered was absolutely absent in this game. Many gamers like me bought the game because it was posed as the sequel to one of the best RPG's on the SNES. Unfortunately it ended up disappointing in what many of us expected.

As a stand alone game, it's good, but as a sequel, it was a total let down
