First of all lets get 2 things clear:
A. We are in the BIGGEST recession the world has ever seen, & the second biggest for the US........so throw sales expectations to match last year out of your window.
B. We are talking about the priciest console on the market, which matters when you see it on the same shelf as a Xbox 360 & Wii
The above may seem excuses to you, well tough, thats how it is so we must keep our expectation lined with the situation we are in. I mean we have never been such a situation since gaming began, so this is the first time something like this is happening.

Now 100K a week last year would have been terrible.
In 2007 below 100k a week WAS terrible for PS3.
But things have changed now, people are jobless, Xbox 360's price is exponentially lower than PS3's (closer to PS2's price if we look at the cheapest model like many consumers are in these tough times).
so what can we say are "Good" sales now......taking all factors into account PS3's 100K/per week sales at the moment are Good Sales (not amazing or very good.....just good).
Now should SONY waste money by dropping the price on Ps3, which is selling withina margin of error tot he Xbox 360? No that would be stupid & putiting them more in the red.
SONY shouldn't drop the price till the PS3 Slim is out now......if PS3 continues these sales its doing good....relative to the current economic climate & Xbox 360.....NOT last year.
If SONY do drop price it would be a waste......an absolute waste of money & probably sales too as people will make those impulse purchases in the holidays not now.
in fact Wii & xbox 360 are doing good too.......I mean can we really expect them to set the world on fire in this situation the word is in, NO
