please give me tips then as I was really crap at playing FF12 & really bad with the gambit system! (by some miracle I managed to finish the game, but it took me like hours to beat each boss)

& how do you not have to grind in FF12?

Oo lord that could take a while. Would you want an entire strategy?

And basically if you were strong enough to get through an area you were strong enough to go to the next one. Strength was more dependent on equipment than level. Chaining kills of the same enemy types gets you better loot, which means you can afford equipment faster, which means grinding for experience is a non-issue.

As to avoiding grinding? Get three Embroidered Tippets and three Golden.... was it Earrings? I forget. One doubles your LP, the other your XP. Keep the XP item on your active party and the LP item on your inactive party and you'll never need to grind again, plus you'll be able to fill out your license board before the end of the game.

fviii best rpg ever made with the best ending ever made.

I personally think the easiest way to go about playing FFXII is to think of it like an MMO. Using Lure you can have a tank, whom you can buff up with protect and other such things, you can set gambits so that one of your other characters is focused most on healing, and then you have the damage dealer.

And I grinded by cheating basically, there's a rare mob that spawn little mini guys every 10 seconds or so, if you set gambits so that your characters heal themselves and only kill the mini guys while leaving the rare mob alive to spawn more you can go to sleep and let your characters level themselves.

thanks that definetely helps!

I was really bad with getting new equipment in FF12

I really dunno why, I mean FF7 - FF9 & FF10 were EASY JRPG's

then FF12 was suddenly very hard to me,it wasn't "fun" playing it most of the time, so I had to be going wrong somewhere at the core.

Anyway I'll make use of those idea's you gave me!

EDIT:

@torillian

thanks!

but I have never played an MMO!! lol

I preferred VIII the most out of those.

XI is an MMO

X-2 is horrific

XII just missed something for me, was still a great game, just not as good as VIII

Looks like I have my day cut out for me defending X-2

It gots the same elements of previous final Fantasies ( improved job system).

System battle was fresh and fast paced. One of my personal favorites.

First sequel to any FF. EVER!

Could be cheezy at moments, but really, what FF wasn't? But the story was intriguing! The search for Tidus and solving the mystery of his disappearnce alone was more than enough to keep any fan of X going.

Reached out to the female gamer.

As I mentioned earlier, had one of the richest sidequest of any FF! Which consisted of mystery solving, coin flipping, blitz ball, revealing Paine's past, etc.

I think people that hate this game can't get over the fact that females are the lead roles, thats why its heavily criticized all the time.

It's not about females being the main roles. It's that ditsy females that sing Jpop and then stand in formation like Charlie's Angels are the main roles. If they had ditsy guys who sang David Hasselhoff songs and tried to look like the A-Team it would be just as bad.

No problem. Torillian's got the basics down, but don't think of it as an MMO, think of it as being like a Final Fantasy where you determine the class. You'll be much more effective if everyone fills specific roles, even though all of them will end up with full License Boards.

Think of it like this: you need one person to absorb hits, one person to heal/cast status magic, and one person to deal damage.

Early on, everyone should have shields, but as time goes on only the person who absorbs hits should have a shield. THe person who absorbs hits is there to make sure other members don't get hurt, rather than deal damage themselves, so you need to give them a weak weapon that raises their Evade by a lot (I think the Gladius was best for this). In the end this character should be very hard to hit.

The person who heals should also act as your primary buffer - they're the ones who cast Hastega, Protectga, Shellga, and so on.

Status magic is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT in FFXII. FFIVDS is the only other Final Fantasy where status magic is this important.

The person who deals damage needs the most powerful weapon you have (it will probably be two-handed, which is why they can't have a shield), then you hit them with Haste, Berserk, and Bravery - they will be doing so much damage so fast that it will melt your face off.

You can set the person who takes hits to cast Berserk, and even give them some healing spells if you want.

Past that it's just a matter of arranging the gambits for your damage absorber and your healer.

That will get you through pretty much every fight in the game, especially if you keep some equipment with elemental immunities.

@hatmoza

People aren't against female lead roles

FF6 won't be loved if they were....

SEXIST!!

Well I have only played XII and X-2, both of which I thought were great, but XII being the better one, a simply brilliant game, I played it for 60 hours in 4 weeks, the only reason I stopped was because the PS3 came out a month after it in the UK

My only problem was after you got the double XP and double LP items, it felt slightly too easy, but still great fun. As for the gambits system, I never had any gambits on Vaan, but I introduced special gambits for the last bosses, so that I always had the status enhancers like courage, haste etc, which made for a slightly too easy final boss, but only because I had got my tactics spot on! Ashe sitting back, Basch (or whatever he was called) as my tank, and Vaan mixing the two depending on how things were going, it was a great game
