$300 PS3 will not get the lead until 2011 at the earliest and thats assuming it starts beating the 360 by a serious margin week over week. this is partly serious/joke response :)

Well Sony had a huge fan base thanks to its previous and far more economical consoles. But even with its popularity it couldn't get away with a number that fucking ridiculous.

PS3 may be dropped to $299 in one price cut towards the end of 2009. Or PS3 may have two $50 price cuts, one $50 price cut this year and another $50 price cut next year and reaches $299 price point in 2010.

while that may be true, the ps3 does offer plenty more than the xbox. bluray, web browser, free online play, connectivity with the psp, arguably better graphics, etc. $100 for those investments is definately worth it, unless of course all of your friends have 360s.
Those PS2 owners are buying consoles already.......not every PS2 owner is waiting for PS3 to be the right price for them, get real people.
PREDICTIONS:
(Predicted on 5/31/11) END of 2011 Sales - Xbox 360 = 62M; PS3 = 59M; Wii = 97M
It will be gameover but Sony would be in a bad position, they will not go bankrupt because sony has more business, but they might lose up to $1billion
Demand is high for PS3, people just can't afford it. A $299 PS3 will dominate.
Why does everyone assume a $299 PS3 will still outsell even the Wii?
It's just that simple.
