Please explain the rationale for a game selling more on a lower userbase? There must be some reason. PS3 owners buy more games?

Simultaneous releases of a fighting game and a mostly Playstation brand game. Well done.

Nice come back. -.-

The reason those BS excuses do not work is because we constantly here Microsoft (including yesterdays PR statement) saying that PS2 users have migrated to the 360.

In others words... lame excuse.

So brand name(RE) and a completely different genre(a fighting game) will show the same trends as Lost Planet?

RE is also just as much a Nintendo brand right now as it is Playstation, look at last gen. All RE titles were released on the Cube, inluding re-releases of RE1, RE2 and RE3: Nemesis.

What does your charts on Lost Planet prove when it is a skewed comparison differing by 13 months and a PC release in between?

If the game is timed-exclusive I will give you that the 360 version will undoubtably outsell the PS3 version, but if it is simultaneously released it could easily end up differently.

What "bundled game" by the way?

Remember that survey showing that PS3 owners are more likely to own other consoles? Maybe there are more PS360 owners than we realize, and they generally prefer to play multiplats on PS3.

It shows that there is at least 4 times as many people who have played the game on the 360 than on the PS3. That is building up a fan base. I posted the only data that is directly related to the game at hand. The game will be available on the PS3 just like the first one, my point is that you are comparing apples to oranges.

dmc4 had bundles in japan... right?

i doubt that makes the 150k difference

Install base or not, that doesn't ensure it will even have close to the sales of the previous installment when it is given a simultaneous release. Check what happened to Saint Rows 2M+ fanbase once it went multiplatform witha simultaneous release.

You honestly think that will a simultaneous release it will still have 4x the install base? May sell better overall due to being a shooter, but it will still show that capcom is better off with the multiplatform strategy.

I am talking about simultaneous release here only. If it is timed then my entire argument becomes moot.

dmc4 also had a bundle on the 360

and jagged the numbers you provide just shows why lp2 should be multi since those sales very well cover porting cost

I am not trying to disprove them making a PS3 version. I could care less. I am just saying the numbers you provided for SF4 and RE5 are not indicative of what will happen with this game. Saints Row 2 however is a very good example. Post those numbers. New IP for both consoles.

My RE5 and SFIV numbers were posted due to what Numonex wrote about how the 360 had the better atatch rate and how the sales were pretty much equal, all because he chose to exclude Japanese sales.

My argument is that it should be simultaneously released.

Saints Row 360 - 2.09M

Saints Row 2 360 - 1.38M

Saints Row PS3 - .72M

As you see it managed to sell more than 50% the 360 total. 360 outsold the PS3 by about 500K in Americas though.

Game seems to have to have not increased it's overall fanbase though which is upsetting since I heard this game was much more fun than GTAIV.
