Gabe Newell stated that the PS3 is a bad console, a failure, and that Sony should stop making it and try again. He refuse to develop games for the PS3 console because of its hard-to-develop-for cell, or so he says. This means we wont be seeing any PS3 port of Left 4 Dead. This also should have been obvious when Valve laughed and said they can’t wait to see Left 4 Dead on the PS3 (which they were being sarcastic). Gabe Newell needs to check his sources again because it is fact, that Valve hasn’t ever made anything close to the quality of killzone 2 this generation on the so called easy-to-develop-for platform labeled Xbox 360. Gabe Newell, as a well respected game developer should welcome the challenge, game development is not always going to be easy and you have to work hard at it to get amazing results as shown in Killzone 2. Until Gabe Newell can prove that he can out do anything of full potential for the PS3 on the 360, then he will eat his own words regarding the PS3 being terminated or being a failure.

Exactly, hes just being lazy, if you put a little effort into it there could be many games out like Killzone 2 on the PS3.

Also, how did you like Killzone 2? Reviewers are saying its graphics are on par with Gears of War 2. Very nice.

You cannot, cannot talk shit about Gabe Newell. He can be a bit of a lout from time to time, but it comes down to the fact that he's one of the most important minds in the industry, not just for his own projects but because he makes sure that other people can complete theirs and distribute them (read: Portal).

And you can say a lot about Killzone 2, but if it has half the brilliance that Valve's last few projects showed then it's going to be more than I expect out of the game.

Gabe Newell may be a brilliant game designer, but he does like to complain a lot.

At one time hated that multi-core systems, because the were too hard to code for. Now he hates the PS3 and the Cell. I'm sure he will hate the next hardware change as well, whatever that may be.

No, his company doesn't need the PS3. At all. The consoles are just extra money to Valve. They have the digital distribution for the entire PC world in the palm of their hands with Steam.

Gabe Newell is great at designing games. But the man is totally in Microsoft's back pocket. It's absolutely hilarious that anyone would take things he says with a grain of salt in regards to the PS3.

And if he is as good of a game designer as people imply, working on the PS3 certainly wouldn't be an issue. Plenty of other developers have worked with the PS3 and turned out good results.
