Forums - Nintendo - Should I buy an Xbox360 or tons of Wii, VC, and DS games?

Honestly, with nintendo's great line-up you wanna save all your cash for them. The 360 will be a refreshing alternative next summer tho, when your all 'mario'd' out.

Why not add me on msn... ish_187@hotmail.co.uk

Darknight_DS- what other big games are coming out? The only other 2 I can think of are FFTA2 and Dragon Quest ds, but I thought those were coming out next year? What games are coming out this year other than the 2 I mentioned?
And you mentioned another price drop... do you think Microsoft will cut the price again by years end? :D

Also, I'm not planning to use Xbox 360's HD or online feautres. I'm ALL about the games ;)

Ok it sounds to me like the Xbox is really not the way to go.... especially right now...  If you are all about the games and there are plenty of games you want to get on the Wii this year, then hold off on the 360 as the online is it's biggest selling feature, most games use it and some even require it.   I said to wait for a price drop as the very best deals will also follow the price drop.  At 199 (whenever that happens in the next year or so) the 360 will already have the bargain discount games. Right now most if not all are full price, and that means they'll be 10$ more then every Wii game (which means even less games you can buy now).

As for the big DS games...  several people have listed them, I'll steal their list for you:

Heroes of Mana - 8/14/07
Luminous Arc - 8/14/07
Rune Factory - 8/14/07
Brain Age 2 - 8/20/07
Worms: Open Warfare 2 - 9/4/07
DK Jungle Climber - 9/10/07
Jam Sessions - 9/11/07
Drawn to Life - 9/17/07
MySims - 9/18/07
Sonic Rush Adventure - 9/18/07
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass - 10/1/07
Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword - 10/1/07
Puzzle de Harvest Moon - 10/1/07
Ultimate Mortal Kombat - 10/1/07
Mega Man ZX Advent - 10/16/07
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations - 10/23/07
Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness - 11/5/07
Dragon Quest Monsters -- Joker - 11/6/07
Geometry Wars: Galaxies - 11/6/07
Assassins Creed - 11/13/07
Mario Party DS - 11/19/07
Warhammer 40,000: Squad Commander - 11/19/07
Contra 4 - 11/20/07
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings - 11/20/07
Nintendo Magic - 11/27/07
Professor Layton and the Curious Village - 12/3/07

That's just a list of what we know.  Nintendo has stated that they have a bunch of games that have yet to be announced this year for the DS.

Why would you ask this question in a Nintendo forum unless you already made your decision and just wanted to hear people validate it for you?

Well said legend11!

Anyways... Get a PS3!   =P

2nd choice is batter , has much more value IMO :)

Since money is a large factor in your decision, there are a few ways to look at this:

1) Since there are so many games coming out for all systems, sticking with the Wii lets you buy $350 worth of extra games. Not buying the 360 gets you the most games for your money.

If you go with this option, I would strongly recommend that you add Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros. Brawl to your list -- at the top IMO but you may not value them so highly.

2) If, however, you really want to have the different gaming experience offered on the 360 -- and it is a very different game selection -- then you should go ahead and get the 360. Ask your 360-owning friends to recommend games to you based on what they know you like.

Many if not most of the top games for the 360 are rated M, so don't bother getting it until after your birthday. When you do buy the 360, get one with an HDMI port as they will most likely be the new, non-overheating type.

3) If all you want to do is play 360 games some of the time, maybe you could just do it on your friends' systems. You could even buy 360 games that they don't have to play on their systems -- I did that with the original Xbox.

And lastly: If you like the single-player or storyline of Halo, go ahead and get Halo 1 and 2; if multiplayer is all you need, don't bother.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia.  Thanks WordsofWisdom!

I would go for a 360. Get it in time for Bioshock...

Despite what some people are trolling about, not everyone here is going to tell you to get just the Wii and DS games...

Seriously people, grow up.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Well, I spent all my money on Wii, VC, and Players choice GC games (sonic riders for example)
I think I'll wait and see what kind of reviews halo 3 gets, if it gets 9.5 or higher on average, I'll proabably spend my xmas and b-day money on mario galaxy, ssbb, xbox 360, and halo 3/blue dragon/oblivion. No matter what though, I'm getting mario galaxy and ssbb :D
Thanks for your help everyone!
I am alot more clear on what the Wii, Xbox 360 and Ds have to offer.
And btw everyone saying xbox's online is amazing- in my opinion the wii has some pretty amazing online too.

Um...why don't you buy used games? It'll be a lot cheaper too. Monkey ball for wii i think is old enough that even a new one should be on sale for 30-40 bucks when a deal is on.

Actually, if you buy used or preplayed games from now on, you should have enough money to buy wii/ds/vc games you want and get the 360.

Currently loving my Wii x2, Xbox 360 Pro & Xbox 360 Arcade, and Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children Limited "Cloud Black" 160GB PS3

GAMEFLY & GOOZEX FTW

Xbox live is awesome though, especially if your getting Halo 3, endless fun. Also get get your friends to buy it and you can play 4 player co-op online. Two systems are better than one, if I had the money I'd get me a Wii, been playing mario strikers at my friends every weekend with beers for the last few months since it came out here. Such a good game.....just my reccomendation.
