Forums - Sales Discussion - LBP Sales Expectations (A little high, eh?)

Ow... I see now.

It was looking to be shaping really good, but it isn't the casual-mass-a-bringing messiah some hyped it to.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

I don't know about the week 0 concept, but according to ioi LBP did 236k in it's second week of sales. That's a 72k increase in sales from Week 1 to Week 2. Now that is amazing.

Not quite when you consider most stores would not sale it. It's official release was the 28th.

Well i agree with the OP. He has a point. Sales wise it must be one of the most overhyped games i've seen. But that has a lot to do with the unrealistic sales expectations of many on this site. It simply can't keep up with some of the hugely over optimistic expectations so is in a no win situation. I know there is going to be damage limitation here and people denying they made such bold predictions but i'm sure a quick tour of sigs or prediction leagues will prove otherwise. Also it may have good legs but thats not a given either.

DON'T WIN ME CHIBI BUDDY DON'T WIN ME.

ANIMAL CROSSING NEW LEAF FRIEND CODE:- 5129 1175 1029. MESSAGE ME.
ANDY MURRAY:- GRAND SLAM WINNER!

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

When you speak of a game that truly deserves great sales, LBP is a front runner. The problem is that a fair number of PS3 owners have no interest in it. PS3 has been geared as a hardcore console, and LBP isn't a hardcore game. For every one of us on here that knows LBP is good, there's 5 people who don't follow games as closely and will look at the box and say, "That looks like it's for kids." and go buy some EA sports game.

Lol.  There already have been a few thread where "everyone" was predicting 60M Wii sales this year.

People forget the 90% of sales predictions that were reasonable, and only remember the top of bottom 5% and claim that was everyone's prediction.

How many LBP sales expectation debunking threads will arise???

4 ≈ One

I save this post and i show you in six months. LBP 3.5 - 5.5

LBP can still sell up to 5,5 million, it has huge legs.

I'm glad you posted this, because this is part of my confusion.  Some people say it had week 0 sales of 164k which in my mind is pretty amazing since it wasn't even on sale.  But it seems some people discount the week 0 notion and say it did only 164k in week 1 which isn't that great.  If you think it did 164k in week 1 then you have to be impressed by the 72k increase in week 2 sales(my origirnal post).  If you subscribe to the week 0 notion then you have to be impressed that the game did 400k in its first week of sales.

Either way LBP did 400k in NA by 11/1 (officially on the market for 4 days).  I think this is contrary to the OP original assumption.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.
