I don't think your comparison is fair, as, being much newer and having a limited lineup, PS3 owners ended up buying these games because they had to play something...anything...at all.
You were talking about attatch rates, but you ignored the overall attatch rates, which are barely over 1 for PS3. There are many games avilable for 360 in Japan. There aren't for PS3. The sales are currently split amongst far fewer competing titles.
Anyway, the point is Xbox has always done worse than PS in Japan when the two systems were at parity or favouring Sony (game title support and price). Right now they aren't. 360 is cheaper and certainly doesn't have worse support atm, even in Japan. I'd say Japanese gamers (who are very much turned off both alternatives right now) may actually end up considering a 360 for DMC4 and such, because they can save some money on the system.

No one pays $600 (or $500, or even $420 for the 20GB Japanese unit) for as yet non-existent quirky-wierd games. Not even in Japan.
