1. And that again has nothing to do with friendcode. You could build a search function based on names and Miis qualities or friendcodes. Besides, where would you need an search function when you have the friendcode? But i want to play agains blonde Miis.

2. There are same looking people all around and there are lots of various possibilities to what a Mii can look like (tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions maybe). Twroo for example has one of the most personal looking Miis.

3. So? If we don't have hundreds of people in the same game simultanously, i don't think too often there would be (atleast not too many) Miis with same names.
And i don't think changing Miis is anymore confusing than changing gamertag.

1. You brought up Miis as a counter on my initial point that friend codes are different for different games. It has everything to do with friendcodes as a universal representation as you said and I was pointing out why you overrated Miis.

My point about the search was you cant use the Mii picture or avatar as a way to locate your new friends. Say I want to add you as a friend on my list, I cant take your Mii picture and add you.

2/3. Changing gamertags are very rare because MS charges to do it and rightly so. This makes it a very stable system and you can never have the same gamertag name, the system doesnt allow it. This is a far cry from people changing their Miis very often.

Anyways Im done discussing. If you are more happy with your friendcodes than great but I can assure you 99.9% of Xbox Live members would not want friend codes instead of gamertags. Even Iwata-san has publically said the friendcode system is not perfect and he wants to develop it further.

They're only needed (from users view) to become friends with someone.

And that is one reason why they suck. If I play a Mario Strikers Charged match against some random player, if the match is good I might want to add them to my friends list so we can play again, but no, I can't do that can I? I can't see what other games that person has. I can't send them a message, and so on.

Gamertag=unified friendcode. See, you didn't complain about friendcodes.
In CoD, people would show... As their Miis. Unless there's two guys with same Miis, i don't think there would be any confusion.

This system would be more confusing. You would have a universal friend code that you would not be able to choose as it has to be unique. Then you get to choose any name you like, so you'd end up with 1,000 Daves, 1,000 Petes and so on. How would that work in high score tables? How would it work in multiplayer games where you're not actually playing as the Mii?

Imagine you're playing a multiplayer game with 32 players. What if one clan all looked the same and all had the same name - which is inevitable. What if someone made a Mii that looks just like yours and used the same name? They would have to be uniquely identifiable in some way and then you come down to looking at long strings of random numbers again.

It's clear you haven't played on a 360 much, because if you had, you'd realise that in terms of functionality and online multiplayer if offers MUCH more than the Wii, and for that reason the friend code system just would not work anywhere near as well as gamertags and it would actually lead to more abuse, unless MS removed the ability to send friend requests to people and that wouldn't be a good thing. I can think of more reasons, but I've typed enough already!

Gamer tags are like email addresses MS will never get rid of them. Look at it this way if someone ask you for your email address would you rather say blank@isp.com or 1222 3355 4522 3395@isp.com?

Gamer tags rock and even Sony uses something similar everyone has a PSN screen name.

Now Playing: Crysis 2

Last Finished: BulletStorm

Online IDs: PSN: computermaximus, XBL: computermaximus

hum OK what about if we totally reject the Idea of Sim's, avatar, Mii's or whatever ????
and I'd rather have my phone number be a gamer tag than a number.... so the analogy is good but that makes it that much more retarded.... phones are last century technology.....

I think you stole the title of one of my threads. It will never happen btw.

Are you joking? Using a cartoony mii in a realistic FPS??!?!?! What about in the lobbies, would you have miis walking around, instead of just a list of stats while you wait 30 seconds for the next round?

better not, i have enjoyed using mine since day one... it would be like stealing from me or something

come play minecraft @  mcg.hansrotech.com

minecraft name: hansrotec

XBL name: Goddog

I think one of the biggest flaws in the TC's argument is that MS is going to use avatars instead of gamertag. The gamertag will still be used primarily. For some reason he thinks MS has copied Nintendo's entire system which imo would be a huge step backwards.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

I hope never. Gamertags are really awesome.

P.S. Microsoft said that Avatars wont be used in any games with a T or M rating. So...yeah. Avatars aren't even close to taking over gamertags...

Which makes this argument extremely pointless seeing as there is nothing at all similar about gamertags and friendcodes.

Elaborate on nothing and your simply a moron.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.
