Yeah, 98 was epic. 2008 is a little bleh for the Wii so far. Brawl and Kart are awesome, but I'm left wanting more. Let's see was Ninty has for E3. I know 09 will be a sick year for the Wii.

Personally, I'm going to say no. Every year sees some great games released, and there will always be those that claim each new year to be the best year in gaming. I don't think 2008 will live upto expectations. GTA4 was great, MGS4 is awesome and while Brawl and Kart Wii hold their own for the wii, and we have Starcraft 2 and Spore for the PC, there is not much else. 07 Bombarded us with hit after hit after hit, it doesn't look like 2008 will be able to reproduce that (particularly with FF13, GT5, Alan Wake and other titles being pushed to 09).
1998 is still the best though, with 2007 a close second.
Seems like 2008 is almost all sequels, many from that 1998 year. This year has and will be a great year, but nothing can really compare to how gaming evolved that year.

Looks like Starcraft 2 won't come out this year :( And with Guild Wars 2 and Dragon Age probably joining SC2, then it's unlikely 2008 will be the greatest year of gaming... oh well, there's always 2009.

After looking at 1998 list i wonder how the hell some people think 2007 was best year for gaming? Grand Theft Auto, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid and Half-Life sequals are still the best games in their genere.
