In 1998 we had 4 Genre defining games: Ocarina of Time, Half-Life, Gran Turismo and Grim Fandango. Those 4 were simply the Best Games in their own Genre at that time AND helped evolve their genres to new heights... except in Grim Fandango's case, the Adventure genre started dieing after GF came out... It's embarassing how a 10 Year Old game is still the best in it's own genre.

Then we had a bunch of awesome games in 1998, that supported it as the best year of gaming (not listing them again)

How many genre defining games did we have in 2007? I can only think of one: Portal. That game was truly a work of art in the Puzzle genre.

Sure there was alot of awesome games in 2007, but that's about it.

I don't see how this year could be better than 1998. Most of the best from this year are just sequels of the games from 1998. Look at how many oiginal titles there wee back then and now look at how many are simply evolutionary sequels. 1998 wins!

im pretty sure mario party came out in 2000 and pokemon red/blue came out in 1996
