Yes, but they target the same audience, and since about 1/6th of japan own dses I see a large number also owning ps3s. There will be alot of people making a choice between FFXIII and DQIX.

KoW is 100% right about your argument. When you can pick up 2 games each of which is in a franchise near the top of their genre within a few months apart for under 100$ (40$DS game + 60$ PS3), that is a good thing in my book.

In Japan DQ9 will be the as expensive as normal wii games, and ff will be as expensive as MGS.  They will not release them that close together, we've seen in the past before and after the merger that Square will avoid releasing FF anywhere near DQ.

DQ9 was scheduled to release in 2007 but was delayed to 2008, other delayed will be bad in the sales of the game.

What can i say... Wada disagrees. The only chance would be if they decide to push back DQ9 instead. Though that seems like it'd lose the effect of the DQ remakes.

He actually also thinks DQ and FF13 woudl cannibalize each others sales interestingly.

Why don't we all just wait till TGS08.

When asked about DQIX release date -- its confirmed for this year, but it *might* slip to next financial year based on various factors...

To put it simply i think SE will launch either FFXIII or DQIX this holiday season with the other launching early next financial year...

I mean FF games and DQ games are like GTA and MGS -- you don't need the holiday season to boost sales, infact i think your better off releasing the game in period of the year which doesn't have many games coming out -- it results in more people buying the product and more praise due to less competition.

But again that article is from Aug '07 and we haven't heard anything from Level 5 or SE about DQIX for quite sometime.....the game might've been delayed, I mean it's not like SE has never delayed a game before. I hope the game comes out, but L5 is extremely busy at the moment, they are a 150 employee company with 4 projects that are all supposed to be out this year. I also believe the majority of their staff might now be working on WKC.

The game was delayed and they said that the game is going to be released sometime in 2008. I'm pretty sure if it was delayed again they will anounce it. Also the dragon quest remakes coming to the U.S this year even support my theory more because of the hype they will build for DQIX. I disagree, I believe more people will be working on DQ because it is about the 3rd largest jrpg, and the 2nd largest in japan. It's far more important than WKC.  I don't see square enix releasing FFXIII anywhere close to the release of DQIX. I think they will wait for sales to settle down then release FFXIII.
