Haha...

Anyone giving MGS 10 is a moron. Anyone giving GTA4 a 10 is...a moron as well just not as big of a moron. Both games have issues.

MGS4 deserves a solid 9 for being the best interactive movie you've ever watched. GTA4 I'd give 9.5 for actually having decent gameplay depth and being the best sandbox game ever made.

Your opinion, completely opposite from mine though.

Oh come on, I'm almost at the end and I've had over 50% of my play time be cutscenes...Story is great, and gameplay is good too but there is not enough of gameplay. This is a videogame afterall isn't it... Roger Ebert should review this game as much as IGN.

If you took the story and mission creativity from MGS4 and added some stealth elements from splinter cell and gunplay of Gears of War...youd have a game thats rated 10.

And that's exactly why you shouldn't say things like:

Because reviewers are biased morons, who in there mind would give ASSASSINS CREED a 9.7 for its STORY and give MGS4 an 8.7?

Like I said biased morons.

Current Status: 2009.01.10 70k till PKMN Yellow (Passed: Emerald, Crystal, FR/LG)

I finished GTA, and I'm 3/4ths of the way to MGSIV. I'd not give either of them a 10, since neither of them is even the best game in the franchise. That said, the last GTA was better than Metal Gear, as a game. It is uglier, its story doesn't match the mechanics, but in the end, the actual playing was way more fun.

The story drags Metal Gear down like a rock. It's a sequel and it shows. By itself, it doesn't provide a compelling storyline. The BBs were such a caricature they were completely uninteresting. Liquid is a horrible villain. Otacon gets lamer in every game.

This is the first Metal Gear that made no sense by itself, and it continues the main storyline of MGS2, the weakest of the lot. What in the world was Kojima thinking?

A  Game can't be as stealthy as splinter cell and as full frontal as Gears OF War , I think MGS4 manages to achieve a god enough blend of the two. Your just asking for the impossible.

Neither game deserved to be ranked that high. Both have glaring faults. The problem is, that lately whenever a highly anticipated game from a big developer turns out to be a good game (it doesn't have to be great), it pulls 10's all over the place. Within the past year, 10's have been handed out like there was a close-out sale on them.

I give this thread a 9.7.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

If they found flaws why give it a 10/10... but is just a review...

By me:

doesn't really matter to me, i know which one i prefer. MGS4 hands down!

Astute observation you made there.  Very inciteful, indeed.

I've played neither game, so I don't feel comfortable giving my opinion on this one.

There are many games out there where you see reviewers praising the entire game then talk about one little flaw that would hurt the rating. That seems to have gone out the window here, what with all the hype for this game and money pumped into it, why wouldn't konami do something to ensure it gets a perfect 10? I have a can here, and it's full of worms. It seems that I'm on the verge of opening it :)

Come on seriously, soooo many great games have come out in the past, none really as hyped as gta4 & mgs4, yet it seemed so far off from a perfect 10 (and i mean the past games were good for its time, don't compare it now to these 'perfect games').

I take reviews with a pinch of salt now.
