Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii still sold out

take a guess on ps3 sales and minus 1 definitely not buying one until price drops, even if it means i have to just buy the FF13, FF13 versus, and GT5 first, without the console

Currently loving my Wii x2, Xbox 360 Pro & Xbox 360 Arcade, and Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children Limited "Cloud Black" 160GB PS3

LOL. If your not willing to shell out 600$... And for 360 downloadables. I have 15gigs of PSN crap on my PS3. Plus 10GB for linux. 20GB aint enough. I think it's well into everyones head that sees honesty. I'm not saying the PS3 will outsell the Wii this year. Unless the FREAK... occurence the Wii stops selling, and the PS3 starts selling when the games come out next month. Or people just start buying the PS3 by the dozens. lol. My point is. *when* people stop buying Nintendos. (look at every nintendo launch) the first 2 months the GC outsold the PS2. (eventhough the PS2 was out for a year and had great games. the GC still outsold it for 2 HOLIDAY months. After that... it was a diffrent story. My point is... the Wii has been out 2 months. And the PS3 has been out 3 months. Launches Aligned. The GameCube launched in November, and the PS2 launched in Oct. The PS2 launched, and was the first Next Gen console out in this group. (by a year) Gamecube / PS2 month1 709,000 / 461,500 month2 611,000/616,000 month3 64,500/616,000 Those are american numbers. For the year after launch... the lowest number sold for the Gamecube was... 64,500... and for the And the lowest the PS2 has EVER sold in a single month... was 221,500. Wich was 2nd month after launch. I'm sure restricted by supply. Next lowest was 222,000... some 2 years later. My point is. Looking at launches aligned. Nintendo KICKED Sonys Ass HARD. for the first 2 months. Will nintendo bomb like that agian? that is my question. (obviosuly because of the price/concept it is selling alot better than the gamecube. It is actually probibally the best console launch of all time... but what will come in the next 10 months. Is what the Wii will be rembered by.

My point is... Wii = low budget junk games. PS3 = high budget games... normally worth buying.
Wii Sports AIAS 2007 Awards - Outstanding Innovation in Gaming At E³ 2006, the game won the Game Critics Award for Best Sports Game. Winner of X-Play's Best Puzzle/Party Game of 2006. IGN: Best sports game of 2006. Winner of The New York Times' 2006 Game of the Year. Made the #1 spot of Time Magazine's top 10 video games of 2006.

Sigh, Kwaad what are we gonna do with you? Your logic is seriously flawed. The PS2 had the market to its self the first year. The Gamecube launched alongside the X-box and had the PS2 to contend with.

Slow down there, buddy...you're not making any sense. PS3 and Wii came out within a few days of each other. What's with the 2 month Wii, 3 month PS3 nonsense? Gamecube didn't sell well over its lifetime. The Wii is not the Gamecube. The Wii has had a great launch, and there is absolutely no reason why 4.5 million Wii buyers would ditch it in 10 months. We bought a Wii, and we want it to succeed...all the support will only strengthen it and get more developers for it.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Uhhh... Notice what you said on the 2nd half. That is my logic. If my logic is flawed. yours is too. :) Please... Oh I'm sorry. Those look like PS3 vs GameCube... They also look kinda like PS3 vs Wii actually... They also look like PS2 vs Gamecube like they are. My point is. On launch... The GameCube... Even competing with the X-Box... Outsold the PS2's launch. the PS2's launch was The only one out. Also... when the GameCube came out... it was already fairly well known... the PS2 was a hard hitter... and was out for a year. Let's put all 3 together... side by side. GC / X-box / PS2 / Wii / PS3 / PS1 / N64 709,000 / 790,000 / 461,500 / 547,500 / 226,000 / 144,000 / 351,500 611,000 / 767,000 / 221,500 / 725,000 / 554,500 / 80,000 / 344,000 SUBTOTAL 1,320,000 / 1,557,000 / 683,000 / 1,272,500 / 780,500 / 224,000 / 695,000 GC/ X-Box / PS2 / PS1 / N64 64,500 / 141,000 / 616,000 / 110,500 / 598,000 84,000 / 154,000 / 292,500 / 370,500 / 832,500 120,500 / 150,500 / 275,000 / 81,000 / 167,500 89,000 / 86,000 / 645,000 / 51,000 / 169,500 TOTAL 1,678,000 / 2,088,500 / 2,511,500 / 837,000 / 2,463,000 1month places. - X-Box, GC, Wii, PS2, N64, PS3, PS1. 2month places. - X-Box, GC, Wii, PS3, N64, PS2, PS1. 3month places. - X-Box, GC, PS2, PS1. 4month places. - X-Box, N64, PS2, GC, PS1. 5month places. - X-Box, N64, PS2, GC, PS1. 6month places. - PS2, N64, X-Box, GC, PS1. Look at those numbers side by side. If a law says the first 5 months of sales means your console wins... that would mean X-box beat the PS2. Wich as we know... the x-box sold ~20million worldwide... the PS2 is still in production and at around 120million. Am I wrong? Look at the PS1 vs N64 numbers. The N64 DOMINATED the PS1 for release numbers. and I mean... DOMINATED... Like as in... the N64's launch was STRONG. And the PS1 outsold the N64 by 2x. At the end of it's cycle. Even though the N64 had 3x the sales after 6months. Will the Wii do the same thing?! That is my question.

Even though your analysis is flawed, Kwaad, it doesn't really matter. The Wii vs PS3/360 showdown is vastly different from the PS2/GC/XBOX war last generation. The Wii is a vastly different hardware, vastly different focus and vastly different business strategy compared to the GC, which was trying to have a bigger cock than the PS2 but at the end they are still both men, with average sized dicks. The Wii had a sex change and got boobs while the PS3/360 bulked up and put on some muscle but they are still trying to see who has a bigger dick, like last gen. Plus, Wii Sports didn't exist back then, most launch games on the Cube were traditional.

Look at my edited numbers. I added PS1 and N64. the N64 6 months after launch RIPPED the PS1 a new one. Nowhere near as much as the Wii vs PS3. Yet the PS1 outsold the N64 2to1 in the end. Nintendo has always had better launches than Sony. *always* This is one of sony's better launches VS nintendo.

Umm, yes, you are completely wrong. Taking each launch in a vacuum without looking at the environment they were launched in is completely useless. The fact is that the PS2, Xbox, and GC didn't launch at the same time. So its idiotic to put the numbers side by side. What matters is how many PS2's had been sold by the time the Xbox and GC launched. So let's have a look, shall we: PS2 Oct 00 461,500 461,500 PS2 Nov 00 221,500 683,000 PS2 Dec 00 616,000 1,299,000 PS2 Jan 01 292,500 1,591,500 PS2 Feb 01 275,000 1,866,500 PS2 Mar 01 645,000 2,511,500 PS2 Apr 01 384,500 2,896,000 PS2 May 01 332,500 3,228,500 PS2 Jun 01 405,500 3,634,000 PS2 Jul 01 403,500 4,037,500 PS2 Aug 01 379,500 4,417,000 PS2 Sep 01 402,500 4,819,500 PS2 Oct 01 388,500 5,208,000 PS2 Nov 01 1,072,500 6,280,500 GC 709,000 709,000 XB 790,000 790,000 PS2 Dec 01 2,297,500 8,578,000 GC 611,000 1,320,000 XB 767,000 1,557,000 PS2 Jan 02 422,500 9,000,500 GC 64,500 1,384,500 XB 141,000 1,698,000 PS2 Feb 02 489,000 9,489,500 GC 84,000 1,468,500 XB 154,000 1,852,000 PS2 Mar 02 424,000 9,913,500 GC 120,500 1,589,000 XB 150,500 2,002,500 PS2 Apr 02 231,000 10,144,500 GC 89,000 1,678,000 XB 86,000 2,088,500 PS2 May 02 547,000 10,691,500 GC 121,500 1,799,500 XB 254,000 2,342,500 PS2 Jun 02 814,000 11,505,500 GC 226,500 2,026,000 XB 292,500 2,635,000 PS2 Jul 02 514,000 12,019,500 GC 151,000 2,177,000 XB 171,000 2,806,000 PS2 Aug 02 534,000 12,553,500 GC 139,500 2,316,500 XB 151,500 2,957,500 PS2 Sep 02 627,500 13,181,000 GC 181,000 2,497,500 XB 190,500 3,148,000 PS2 Oct 02 609,500 13,790,500 GC 183,500 2,681,000 XB 264,500 3,412,500 PS2 Nov 02 1,515,000 15,305,500 GC 464,500 3,145,500 XB 518,000 3,930,500 So the PS2 had a 5 million unit head start that ballooned to a 12 million lead 1 year after the GC and Xbox launched.

And the backing of the success of traditional games found on the PS1 I might add. The PS1 also was launched earlier and its killer disruptive technology was the optical disc.
