One thing that's always forgotten is that it comes to late to make a difference.
The major thing is a type of supression. As the generation continues, the amount of change in the market shares is less and less. As time goes on, the consoles will fit into how they have been doing. Basically, as time moves on, your chance of catching up is less and less. This is becuase consumers become more akin to one system. Your friend has a Xbox 360. Another has a Wii. They both like them. How likely are you to buy a PS3? The reconnicion increases, and people will start to know more about the market leaders. TV, magazines, friends family, newspaper, articles. They will start talking more about the market leaders. The people on the internet will talk more about the best system, becuase more of them have it. Bascially, the better you start off, the better you end. It's like a drag race. Your most importaint part of the race is your start up. Start well and you'll easilly win the race. Burnout and you'll inneviatably lose.
The other thing is that their games are only percived to be killer apps. MGS has been going downward for a while. The games are selling less and less. Their sales seem to be based on how qwell the PS2 did. They did well becuase the system did. Killzone 2 doesn't have name reconision. Ask anyone. They'll know Mario. Halo. Maybe Smash Bros. They won't know Killzone. Killzone is popular amoung gamers, namelt Sony fans. Sales will tell you that. Final fantasy is going down hill for a while. 12 did well, but it also had the PS2 and a large user base. Look at what SE has been doing. Spin offs out the wazoo. Theyu just aren't as profitable with the franchise as they use to be. How well can it do on a low user base? I bet the people who are most likely to buy these games, have the console already.
I think, most likely, the PS3 will never pass the 360. Compair PS3 to the 360. Theirn doing about the samer, but look ahead. The 360 jumps up. This is becuase of more softyware and the holiday season. Chances are, PS3 will not have that same jump. The system is just too expensive, and has nothing in the way of system sellers, while Nintendo and Microsoft have their big hitters. face it, PS3 isn't going to pull second, and I think therer are a lot of Sony fans holding onto a false hope.
