My first console was the SNES, and to this day no other system has managed to surpass it for me, though Switch 1 came close.

How about you, what was your first console, and has it ever been topped in your estimation or does it remain your #1?

My favorite is the SNES, my childhood console.

But PS1, NES, PS2 and Wii came close. PS1 because it was revolutionary when I was a kid. NES because I had a NES Clone at some point. PS2 because I still have one, and it has the best library I ever saw. And Wii because it was the last Nintendo system I really wanted to own, and the motion controllers stood out. Plus it had Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Hard to say.. I’m not sure if GCN or Switch would be considered my childhood console. Throughout the Wii/Wii U generation, I always looked bitterly at Nintendo compared to their “Golden Years” that were GCN, the system I played up until 3rd grade. But the instant Switch hit market, I was immediately swayed by BotW and MK8DX into saying that yeah GCN has been surpassed.

To this day, I still consider Switch as my favorite, and I really see no reality where a system can top the memories I got from Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Tears of the Kingdom, Pikmin 4, and so many other all time classics. My first 3D Mario, 2D and 3D Zelda, 2D Metroid, Mario RPGs, etc. It all started here.

One of my childhood consoles (snes) is still mt favorite and i dont consider it has been surpassed yet.

Grew up with the NES, but the Switch has surpassed it.

The Master System was the first console our household had, but the first console that I had myself was the SNES. I'd probably favour the PS1 over it these days.

The Switch has many of my favourite games from both in one form or another, but if we're only taking games that were first released on the Switch into account, then the PS1 takes it.

TL;DR - if my first console is the definition being used for 'childhood console', then the answer is no.

My childhood console was the SNES. Dethroned by the GameCube, Dethroned be the Switch probably now dethroned be the PS5.
Handheld DS is still my favorite but my first handheld console was the GBA. Love them both still use them both but probably more so the GBA. The switch is a better console but a worse handheld in my opinion.

In my childhood I had NES, ATARI, SNES, Sega Saturn, PS1. None of which are my favorite console. PS2 currently holds quantity and quality in my top 50 list, so I suppose that would be my favorite console.

I grew up with MSX, also played a lot of C64 and Amiga 500. PS2 is my favorite console / era.
