Not sure where you got that info but thats seems not the case.

The total software that ninty mentioned(1.5bill+)

Is with digital only games included.

  • Grand Totals: The overall lifetime software unit numbers provided in Nintendo Financial Results combine physical cartridge sales and digital downloads across first-party and third-party publishers.
  • Digital & Indie Inclusion: Download-only releases (such as indie titles that never received a physical print) are fully factored into the platform's total consolidated software sales units.

Again, that 1.5bill is insane but you cant compare it to a console that was physical only/did not recieve 1dollar/10 dollars heck not even 20 dollar games.

Where did you get this info? Can you provide your source?

Well TBH i just asked google,  could be wrong trying to find it in the info nintendo provides but its verry difficult so i could again be mistaken, not trying to do a " haha gotcha!! Move just verry curious about it....if true at least the  the gaming industry in terms of software units sold has greatly increased from the 5th/6th era.

I do wonder why they do not include all software in their "totals" it just sound strange and almost unbelievable to me that 1.5+billion units on for example the ps4 is ONLY physical and their digital counterparts..

Edit i seems to have found it and it indeed does say it does NOT include digital only games.

Iam honestly shocked about it, i always figured that total software sales for both switch and ps4/5 included digital only games.

Slowly walks shocked away...

It is really weird and annoying the way they report these things yeah, I wish they were more straightforward as it does make a lot of this more of a pain in the arse than it should be.

Google's powered by AI which hallucinates and gets things wrong often, so it's best not to rely on what it says.

Google's AI like all LLMs hallucinates and gets things wrong often, so it's best not to rely on what it says.

Well to ad one little note of advice for myself in this shamefull display.

"Google in fact does NOT know it all"

Hahaha.

haha all good man, I think every one of us has been hoodwinked by unreliable data online at least once, probably many times if we're being honest.

Regional sales split of Switch 2 as of yet:

Western sales: 56 %.
Non western sales: 44 %.

That regional sales split seems very unique in the current console market, Sony and Microsoft would both have a much higher share than that of western sales compared to non western sales for PS5/Xbox Series. That means when it comes to games that appeal to Asian markets, Switch 2 should already be a much bigger platform than Xbox Series for example.

Nintendo does seem to be making an effort to grow their business in Asian markets outside the primary ones like Japan; last year they established a branch in Singapore with the aim of "accelerating their business in Southeast Asia" and now apparently they're establishing an official presence in Indonesia and according to rumors India as well.

We pretty much knew this already through extrapolation, but the Pokemon Company have confirmed that Pokopia has moved over 5 million:

Not bad at all considering it's only been out a few months.

I’m very curious to see how far this game will go this holiday. For being tied to a system with a little over 20M units sold, these are some crazy good numbers.

Yeah hitting a close to 25% attach rate after just a few months is impressive stuff, it blew passed DK Bananza for instance in a fraction of the time.

In today's stressful world, cosy games are like catnip to a lot of folks.
