I'll give it both thumbs up.
I've been loving the console, but mainly I've been playing the Switch 2 Editions of Switch 1 titles: the added mouse controls really help with certain games. I also like the magnetic connections sivnifically more than the rails (which I had a lot of problems with when playing the original Switch, as someone who switches modes frequently). Also, I haven't had the de-sync issues I had with the original Switch in TV mode. The EShop is a vast improvement... well mostly the Switch 1 was built for a far smaller library than what it became, the Switch 2 fixes everything (lag, buffering, etc...) it was a shitty experience on Switch 1, to the point where I just used the website version instead for browsing the EShop.
I've been playing a ton of indie titles and strategy games, Civ 7, Xenoblade Chronicles X (which had some glitches back in the winter before the update), and Breath of the Wild Switch 2 Editions of each. And I've ended up enjoying the overall experience significantly more than the Switch 1. Also, it helps that a lot of the indie titles have dropped substantially in price during sales.
As a note, I generally play older games; so this is me having a good time playing those older games on brand new hardware.
For me, I compare Switch 2 to the first years of the SNES, DS Lite, Wii, and Switch 1. That is, consoles that I played a lot during the first year, most console I buy are generally for one or two games, and then they mostly sit for a couple of years before I gradually start playing more and more on them.
Unlike the Wii U, which was literally just switching the Wii box (which I felt was a much more aesthetically pleasing console with its shape, LEDs, and such) for the fatter and rounder Wii U box, the controllers I used were Wii controllers, so while technically I was using the Wii U box, it was a Wii experience of Wii games (just with an uglier box)... Switch 2 is a Switch 2 experience of Switch 1 games: everything works better.
