That could be said for most remasters lol.

Many remasters are lazy cash grabs. Horizon is one of them.

Strong disagree here. I have the PC version and think it was a great upgrade that only cost me $10 over what I paid for the base game.

That's the thing with opinions, we don't have to agree.

Yes, and I expressed my disagreement on a public forum where people have discussions.

As did I.

I mean, what do you think PSSR is?

In the article is says it's not aiming to replace human models (so no generative AI for models) but to improve tools and get results faster, and that is where AI should be used.

The thing is, how intrusive are they willing to get, and how much devs would be forced to adapt to it? That can indeed be concerning.

He mentioned Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered as an example and I've never read anything bad about AI from any players or devs, so at least until now, I don't see a problem, actually the PSSR update has been exceptionally praised, as is the Sophy AI on GT7.

AI is not always a problem, how intrusive it can get is.

I have nothing against the use of AI in gaming, but it's kinda sad that we have to rely on that to get acceptable performance in many titles.

It feels like many companies are not even trying to optmize their games anymore.

What games do you mean?

At least on consoles, were used to have most games at 30 fps and since PS4 Pro and specially with the 9th gen, we now get most games with a 60 fps option, which I usually choose, and at least the games I've been playing on my PS5 run and look great, it has been easily the best generation experience wise because of the bump on FPS while the games still look incredible, plus the extremely quick loading times, (also even the controller feedback specially from the Dualsense but that's not related to performance), so at least when asking to me, I really can't complain about games performance right now.

I think next gen we will not have a big brute performance boost (rasterization) and we'll really be using DLSS/PSSR to improve the internal render resolution of games, but it's either that or we have $2000 consoles that will sell to basically nobody and we then go through another gaming crash. We may see more lazy games or specially lazy ports, that's probably true just based on the amount of games needing to rely on it, but at least right now, I haven't personally been affected by it.

I wouldn't call Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered slop. Game looks and plays great!

It's a product that didn't need to exist in the first place, Horizon was already playable on PS5 via BC.

Is that how you feel about Nintendo Switch 2 versions of Switch 1 games?

Yes; stuff like Mario Part Jamboree and Mario Bros Wonder on Switch 2 don't need to exist.

I own Mario Bros Wonder on Switch 1; I thought about getting the Belabell Park DLC, actually planned to sit down and play it earlier this week once I finished with Pragmata, but ultimately didn't go through with it. One of those things where the impulsive spending urge (ADHD trait) almost got the better of me despite my better judgement knowing that $30 AUD is something of a ripoff for what's on offer.

Certainly doesn't feel like you thought about it as a crash grab and unnecessary existence when you happily announced you were going to play it, or when you excitedly asked me about the Switch 2 version of Kirby when I bought it.

Personally, at least recently, both times I saw you talking about those two Switch 2 versions of Nintendo games it was never with prejudice, as you did right now for a Sony game, pretty much the opposite actually...

People that owned Horizon Zero Dawn could buy the remaster for $10 as well, like an upgrade.

Selective judging is not wrong per se, but when its clearly not a case by case but a company by company that matter, well... it doesn't look good.
